"Kennedy, who was previously pro-choice, repeated his favorite soundbite about how “every abortion is a tragedy,” claiming that the US cannot be a moral leader if we allow X number of abortions, though he did not share how many abortions he would find acceptable or how we should decide who was deserving of them."
Oh we absolutely know how he would decide who was deserving of them - their families would be the same ones who can afford $20,000 to $40,000 a month for drug rehab.
“The scariest thing about these hearings is how many people on the Right seem to think they went very well for RFK Jr. Many of the clips included here are also available on YouTube with titles suggesting that he had totally owned all of the libs. In fact, the above clip is posted by a conservative account with the title “Senator Alsobrooks attempts to SMEAR RFK Jr painfully backfires.”
I guess that’s true if you ignore the fact that everything that came out of his mouth for the whole five hours was absolute bullshit”
YES!!! They TOTALLY DO! ignore facts/ everything & just craft their own “influencer”/ “influenced” narratives they can all Unite around comfortably.
The saddest thing about these Congressional hearings is that they provide us with a sobering diagnosis of the near-death condition of the free news media of the United States.
If we had functional news media, nobody would be able to watch a hearing like this and say that RFK Junior "successfully dealt with tough questioning." Everybody would say, "He really just yells at people when he doesn't know the answer, doesn't he?"
Of course, if we had functional news media, Donald Trump would NEVER have become our President, not even once, and RFK Junior would NEVER have become our nation's Health and Human Services Secretary. Nobody as kooky as this should ever get serious air time on a serious news broadcast, let alone be elected to high public office.
At some time after 1980, our news media stopped caring about truth value and started caring only about entertainment value. Jon Stewart's condemnation of CNN's "Crossfire" in 2004 was right on target. But now, most of broadcast news media in the United States are no better than "Crossfire," and some channels are even worse.

"Pressed by [US Representative from Wisconsin Mark] Pocan to say whether he’d recommend parents vaccinate their children, he said he would prefer to give them a list of pros and cons and let them figure that out for themselves."
What if your children are toddlers, Mister Secretary?
And what if your "list of pros and cons" is pseudo-scientific nincompoopery?
NPR is terrified of Trump. In a recent column Trump's lies about birth right citizenship were characterized as "incorrect claims." Passive voice is back, folks.
Jon Stewart managed to get Crossfire cancelled. He kind of sucks now, but damn if he wasn't on point during the Bush years. Anybody who cost Tucker Carlson a job can't be all bad.
Until somebody puts a stop to being able to make claims based on unscrutinized evidence or no evidence at all, this is where we're going to be. People can make any claim they want, and these people fucking will. "THEY'RE EATING THE CATS AND DOGS," comes to mind.
Just like Krasnov, Bobby Brain Worm is completely unqualified for his job. The people who knew him the best, his family, all warned us. He should never been confirmed.
A government that allows people like this to be in charge of *anything* is not sustainable. We either need a serious deep cleaning or for all the states to take their balls and go home. That was a sports or play metaphor, not me getting testicle-y.
It is plain that Secretary Kennedy has now taken an adversarial position with an increasing number of people who are far smarter and competant than he is.
It's a bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see how it works out for him.
He's now neck and neck with Hegseth and Noem on the "who gets dropkicked first off the cabinet" contest.
You know after a long day testifying before congress, and having to speak for many hours, some people can start to sound hoarse. R Fucking K Jr has the advantage of sounding like that all of the time.
The sustained and stunning aspect of each and all these Sir Appointees is the terrifying fact that not one of them has the self-awareness, the common sense, the humility, the decency -- yes, Decency! -- to recognize how utterly, deeply, profoundly, hurtfully, painfully unqualified each and all are and ever shall be.
Do I hear "I am flattered by your confidence in me Sir but I am keenly aware of my limitations and must decline because by accepting the position you offer I would be forced to also accept the boundless, immeasurable harm -- both intentional and unintentional -- I would do to the people of this nation -- and by extension, the world -- wounding history and perhaps, most egregious of all, your own great name, Sir."
Their job is to play a 'Sir appointee' on a reality TV show that is playing in Trump's head. They're not there to provide leadership for whatever agency they agreed to let Musk dismember.
jesus fucking christ how does anybody hear rfk speak and think he is not a lunatic.
Why are we seeing the same handful of Democrats standing up to MAGA? What the fuck is wrong with the rest of them? No wonder people feel hopeless.
"eventually informing him that it had been part of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development."
OUCH

Ta, Robyn. A lot of people are going to die needlessly.

RFK, Jr. is a eugenicist.
So here's a funny question:
What IS his actual job? Does he have a job description...?
Yes. Show pony for Trump.

The GOP Senate overwhelmingly confirmed this lunatic to this position.

No, I do not.

The purpose of the reality TV is to keep us distracted from all the blatant corruption.
It's not working though...
Good
But still... self-aggrandizing, clueless shits, yes?
