Apparently the research and writing of her book took such a toll on her that she want into a deep clinical depression that ended with her taking her own life.

Not one for endless lawyer jokes, but have to ask: possible to sue for embarrassing the profession, or possible to embarrass the profession?

To tell you the truth, if that photo up at the top of this entry is of the memorial in question, then I would probably sue, too.

The US doesn't try to deny that the internment camps existed, nor does it refrain from expressing its profound regret for implementing that shameful policy. So moral equivalence? Not quite.

The people who were interned in those camps were loyal Americans, some of who enlisted in the military <i>while still being interned</i> and fought valiantly for their country in the War. They did not identify with or in any way feel solidarity with the fascistic military junta that controlled the Imperial government in Japan at the time. The tragic truth is that the internees were US citizens who were every bit as loyal and supportive of the United States as were the people who interned them.

Also, too, the monument was erected by the City of Glendale, California, not by the United States federal government.
