Five patients died in the last two weeks of January - two really kind of unexpected, and I'm looking at another who just yesterday was given some honest prognostication - something that I could see coming months ago, but "G-d will save me." (Please, if you have advanced cancer and have to go to the hospital, do not be full code - especially with heart failure/ejection fraction of 30% and chronic kidney disease stage 3).
This is on top of having hired someone as a second me - who it turns out was a Very Bad Idea. How does one live to 69, be a health care professional, and not know how to work a computer? I had to show her how to move a window from one screen to another, how to create a file folder and save a file to it...I know that training someone is a time suck, but I went from doing the job of two to doing the job of three. Perhaps the worst part is that my patience has worn so thin, I've been not the nicest, most supportive person with this new hire, and I hate myself for being a bitch - I just don't have time for this nonsense.
I was going to retire this spring, then pushed it off to next year. I am so regretting that decision right now.
