Is THIS Why Devin Nunes Pooped All Over His Own Trump-Russia Treason Investigation?

After Republican House Intelligence Committee Chair Devin Nunes went rogue on Wednesday and called a weird press conference to tell everybody he had seen evidence he couldn't even explain that showed that the Trump transition team was under surveillance, but only legally and incidentally, and it definitely had NOTHING to do with Russia, we had a feeling the Democratic ranking member on the committee, Rep. Adam Schiff, might go on TV and make some noise, and maybe some news. And you betcha, he sure did!

While Nunes -- who, again, is the chair of the House Intel Committee -- was busy maybe obstructing justice and divulging Top Secret information to the public and people who are the targets of "multiple FISA warrants," his colleague on the Intel committee, Adam Schiff, was busy not doing that. Possibly because he's a former assistant US attorney who has actually prosecuted Americans who were passing on information to Soviet spies, and knows how all of this is supposed to work.

Schiff showed up on Chuck Todd's "Meet The Press Daily" (Motto: If It's Not Sunday, Then Why Is "Meet The Press" On?) and told Todd he has now seen hard evidence that the Trump team colluded with Russia to influence the election. This is different from Schiff's appearance on this past Sunday's episode of ACTUAL "Meet The Press," when he told Todd there was only "circumstantial" evidence. Here's the exchange:

CHUCK TODD: You admit, all you have right now is a circumstantial case.

ADAM SCHIFF: Actually no, Chuck, I can tell you that the case is more than that. And I can't go into the particulars, but there is more than circumstantial evidence now, so ...

TODD: So you have seen direct evidence of collusion.

SCHIFF: I don't want to go into specifics, but I will say that there is evidence that is not circumstantial, and is very much worthy of investigation, so that is what we ought to do.

Schiff added that the investigation's credibility has been "dealt a serious body blow," now that Nunes has decided to, without consulting Schiff or any of the other members of the committee, prematurely ejaculate the "findings" of his own "investigation" all over Donald Trump, but he seems hopeful they can mop up Nunes's jizz and move on. (Schiff is hopeful, but Sen. John McCain is decidedly not . McCain appeared on MSNBC an hour after Schiff, on Greta Van Susteren's new program "Whoa Whoa Whoa, Where Am I?" and said Congress no longer has the "credibility to handle this alone" after Nunes's little stunt, and he called for either a select committee or an independent commission. We agree, and also add that there should be a special prosecutor!)

Now, Schiff's comments aren't a #SmokingGun or anything, but he is really saying something, considering how, as the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, he really can't say a whole hell of a lot in public about the investigation, because HE IS NOT DEVIN NUNES UP IN HERE DOING ALL THE TELLING OF ALL THE CLASSIFIED THINGS IN PUBLIC. But somehow, between his appearance on Sunday and his appearance on Wednesday, things have changed, and he's seen more than just "circumstantial evidence" of collusion. WHOA IF TRUE!

Rachel Maddow reported on the air Wednesday night that her team had reached out to Schiff's office to make sure he hadn't accidentally said a "DOY DOY DOY!" and that he definitely meant to say he had seen more than just circumstantial evidence, and the message they got back was that Schiff said what he meant to say, so that's that.

So HUH! Wonder what happened this week to make Schiff say what he said! Have they seen new damning information, and is that why Devin Nunes scamper-waddled like a chunky rat over to the White House to try to foreclose the investigation before it begins? Was Nunes trying to protect his real daddy Donald Trump? WAS HE TRYING TO PROTECT HIMSELF? Nunes was, after all, on the Trump transition team, and it's possible he's Guilty As Fuck too.

Strangely enough, CNN published an article late Wednesday, claiming that "U.S. officials" say they have found evidence of collusion between Trump officials and Russia. Specifically, CNN says this:

One law enforcement official said the information in hand suggests "people connected to the campaign were in contact and it appeared they were giving the thumbs up [to Russia] to release information when it was ready."

Well huh! Now, CNN is the only one reporting that, and it is well known in Donald Trump's brain that CNN is "fake news," but that sounds like it COULD be big. Also too, George W. Bush ethics lawyer Richard Painter says the FBI is "uncovering evidence of treason," so UH OH!

Whatever it is, it sounds like the feds are starting to get a good bit closer to figuring this thing out. Better run to the White House to protect your dad again, Devin Nunes! Or Nunes could take the adult option and STFU and recuse himself from the investigation.

PFFFFFT, as if he has the integrity to do that.
