It looks like the Trumpers don't believe neuro diverse people deserve a fair and equal education and should not be contributing to society in any way they are able to. I am so sorry. My kid will probably skip grad school because of the debt. They don't want smart kids unless they are also rich and repugnican. *Sigh* I'm in a desert and the Kamala mirage just faded where I thought a caring oasis existed.

I'm not worried. They'll spell "Education" wrong in multiple, critical places in the text of the repeal bill.

Apparently PAB doesn't already know that the college loan program is run by a bunch of for-profit loan sharks already and that most people aren't paying the college a million dollars so their idiot sons can get a degree.

He tries to mess with that bunch of crooks and he's going to find himself hitting a wall when it comes to trying to "reform" that particular part of the system.

Ta, Dok. I suspect that TFG hated school because he couldn't keep up; either a learning disability or just perennial slacking.

It's a combination of narcissistic entitlement and a completely incurious mind.

Don't try to dress it up with a diagnosis.

I assume "wokeness and jihadism" includes any suggestion in any curriculum that, historically and factually, black chattel slavery in the U.S. was an abomination of evil and slaves lived in squalid misery.

I assume further that former Confederate states will be free to teach in schools that they did not secede in order to maintain slavery, but for noble and chivalrous ideals. Even though they all said roundly and unequivocally in their declarations of secession that they were taking this step out of fear that slavery would be abolished. The Texan articles of secession even said, in those words, that it intended to maintain black slavery "for all the future." No high school kids are likely hear much about the content of Alexander Stephens's 'cornerstone address', either.

History textbooks in that area will probably consist of novels like Dixon's "The Clansman" and Mitchell's "GWTW." And high school kids will not be exposed to such subversive ideas as these books being sheerest fiction.

As for science - what the fuck is that?

The idea of a free online American Academy is actually a good one. Too bad it will be discredited by whatever half-ass effort Trump puts into implementing it.

I have to say, our schools must be doing a piss poor job of turning kids into radical Marxists given the results of the last election.

of course, when they say "marxists," what they really mean is "expectation of fairness."

i mean, jesus, won't these damn kids just shut up and eat the shit sandwich we're offering? so entitled!

But they did a pretty good job of turning out "sympathisers" of many "dimensions." I guess.

I looked up Linda McMahon on the wiki to see what her experience had been with higher education. A bachelors in French with a teaching certification from East Carolina University is nothing to sneeze at, but it doesn't seem likely that it left her with a reverence for higher education.

But you should go read the wiki! The story of her and Vince is wild! Starting with they met when she was 13 and he was 16 (going on 17?) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linda_Edwards_McMahon

ECU was an absolute party school when she was there.

As gross as Vince and Linda probably are, you can't say they're stupid. They have shown themselves to be extremely saavy, even if morally corrupt and self-serving. They understood the dark, damp side of human nature and the power of story-telling, and recognized the value of TFG's pro-wrestling "heel" persona probably before even he did, despite his family's brilliant investment in changing their name to Trump. I've always thought pro-wrestling was the basest, most culturally devolving movement going, but they clearly didn't underestimate the American public or just how fucking stupid we are.

It's not the funding for Special education that will throw it into chaos, the states unfortunately make up the balance, it's the standards and enforcement. SPED at it's best is "pretty good" and in other places it's abysmal but at least there is a minimum standard expected. Without any sort of consistency and commitment, them rural states that love the orange sleep demon are going to love the day when all their kids IEP's just magically disappear and the kids who came to rely on SPED services as the only safeguards to being in a public school are going to be just bewildered when they are suddenly transported to a whole nother school with no plans or services.

IN 1972, Nixon won by a true "Landslide" 512 electoral votes and a popular vote margin of nearly 20 pts. Two years later he was forced out of office in disgrace. Trump will never leave voluntarily, but the midterms usually not kind to the sitting POTUS, could be his undoing. Democrats need to start working feverishly TODAY!!

The gerrymandering is strong. How to overcome that?

Expand full comment

Despite his claims, always bullshit, Trump does not have a "Mandate" nor a "landslide" victory! He WON BY A MARGIN of LESS than 2% of the popular vote. Thank you very much aholes who didn't think Harris was "Liberal" enough, and voted Green Party or stayed at home. Also, too, young Black and Latino "macho" men who couldn't bear the thought of a woman POTUS. those are the demographics who put Trump back in the WH.
