Yes of course totally agree. But the question of this election isn't are you better off now than you were 4 years ago.
The question is "Will you be better off 4 years from now?"
The Biden recovery has been great. But as many mother has said if you're looking for credit, you're not going to get it. The biggest contrast between Harris and Trump is there a vision for the future, what American Life will look like by 2028.
The economy is great, it could be worse. But prosperity is still not widely shared in this country. And we should not be looking for applause for that uncompleted job. Yes I know that Trump propaganda has blunted what would be a natural American reaction to say hey the bottom is not falling out anymore, let's reward the incumbent with Good vibes. But we need to get over our grief that that's not happening, and focus on the future.
Trump obviously is not about the future. He's about the grievances of the past and how he will use the future as a torture chamber to assuage the pain of those invented and amplified grievances. It's a horrific thing.
Harris is as she should be representative of a vision, aligned with 250 years of American proletarian hope and 60 years or so of actual progress, of a future of broadly shared prosperity and abundance.
With this election you really get to choose your own adventure, for yourself and 330 million fellow travelers to the Future.
There are a lot of issues I wish the Dems would run on: Rebuilding and fortifying the wall of Church/State separation; nationalizing the banks, Internet, railroads, and key industries; dismantling the military-industrial complex and the entire American empire; put public education funding and control directly under the federal government and ban all private schools (especially the religious ones); setting up Musk, Thiel, Zuckerberg and other upper class parasites with a date with Madame Guillotine…
IT would be useful to mention the GINI number when talking about the economy, to get some impression of which layer of society all these profits are going to.
Though your "wage growth has for the last year outpaced inflation" is even better. What is the USA definition of inflation? Is that just goods and services or also assets? Usually assets aren't considered a part of inflation, which is sneaky because everybody needs housing and if housing costs increase faster than your wages, you're still less capable of buying food.
A while ago, I posted something on this problem, so I'm glad to see that the inestimable Dr. Zoom has a post on it. If Democratic strategists could just hammer away at one thing, it might well be that people have got it completely bass ackwards regarding who's better for the economy. The Democrats are better. They are better because -- unlike thoughtless right-wing cheerleaders for "untrammeled capitalism" -- the Dems have a mature understanding of how capitalism really works. The Republicans never learned anything even from the Great Depression. In a recession, they promote the maximum cruelty towards the little guy and gal possible. It's just plain stupid. "Kick 'em when they're down" is ever the right's watchword, and it has never served our country or our people well. Democrats understand that capitalism is dynamic and impressive at its best, but also that it is a human-made system, and no human system is perfect. When the train threatens to go off the rails, we don't just stand back and keep remarking on what a lovely coat of paint the thing has. We make adjustments.
The list is long. And I listened to her today and she is hitting her marks.
Especially when she talked about saving affordable healthcare.
Mrs. Xmas said it a few weeks ago..we love old Joe but his biggest problem was weak campaigning against the worst candidate evah. He could have shredded orange fuckface in that debate. PAB won't go near her.
Good luck to her selling the truth, with every organ and outlet of the corporate media spouting the RNC lies they've been fed and distorting what little they will bother to report on of Kamala's messaging. They have their narrative, and nothing will make them change it.
and then when we have POTUS Harris and unified government (that means a meaningful Democratic majority in the House and Senate) THEN we pass the Fairness Doctrine that Ronnie Raygun would not so that corporate media will be made to tell the truth again
I'm not the sort to wish ill upon anyone but damn, It would be great to see somebody toss a glass full of root beer in Ezra Klein's face. Or just dump it in his lap even.
A pepper spray-laced shaving cream pie in the face, in recognition of his years of half-baked analysis and propagation of the day's conventional "wisdom" would seem appropriate.
I'd just as soon she argue for vigorous prosecution of the Convicted Felon PAB for all his crimes. Ev ery time his name comes u p point out he has been convicted by a jury of his peers and IS A CRIMINAL! ... because he is.
There is a lot of money in reporting the opposite when there's a Democratic administration in office. So this is going to be a lot. Because everyone knows a person who is struggling. The numbers are great but because individually there are people doing bad, those stories will be magnified. So it is going to take a lot, to help people understand that the main reason people are struggling are macroeconomic conditions created by conservatives, and things Republicans continue to champion. You know, like suing not only to prevent people from voting, but also suing to prevent debt relief.
We're going to need a lot of paid media because we're only going to get a load a bs from nbc et al. The DNC needs to hire the people that make for example the Taco Bell commercials and get out of the way. Quiero Kamala! Fuck Ted Cruz.

I like you, but what you suggest is as anti-constitutional and grievance-driven as anything that comes out of Trump's evil mouth.

Ta, Dok. Pandemic or no, Rs always wreck the economy, and Ds always bring us forward.

Kamala Harris should run on the fact that Trump is an asshole.
I just ordered two ¡QUIERO KAMALA! bumper stickers.
It should be 45 months of economic growth, not 75. (And even then there was a brief period of negative growth in the first part of 2022.)
Yeah, 75 months would be 6 years! corrected!
John Mayall died?

Then we have to do two things --
a) look to other outlets

https://youtu.be/hciz9i-JSzA?si=f9Oc-VClo9xS0kMD
b) fact-check ourselves, and then stick to those facts we know
I don’t know why anyone still cares what the mainstream media thinks. When someone shows you who they are, believe them.
Hence the work we have to do. Kamala talked about it today. We are a grassroots party.
https://www.youtube.com/live/tqzmcZWBC7w?si=_eNv_UmmGoP-edBp
We could boycott goods & services that advertise on MSM,
‘Buu, uutt, that’s TOO difficult!! (!!!)
We don't even have to do that
We listen to & watch outlets we trust

https://youtu.be/UobQJhyUrmQ?si=ew-Hl_EYK2Dt9CCn

and then when we have POTUS Harris and unified government (that means a meaningful Democratic majority in the House and Senate) THEN we pass the Fairness Doctrine that Ronnie Raygun would not so that corporate media will be made to tell the truth again
If there is any power on earth than can make them stick to the verifiable facts and to separate opinion from facts.

And a business fraudster and cheat.
Here’s how you counter one of Trumps founts of bullshit. Let him finish and then have her go
“Im sorry but none of that is even remotely true, and I’m going to tell you why so pay attention”
I’m guessing that at least some people have been trying to do that for the last 78 years.
"Im sorry but none of that is even remotely true, and I’m going to tell you why, Skippy, so pay attention”

It requires an explanation rather than a slogan.
