He was a "professional gambler," they say, meaning, an addict. He probably had just lost big. He probably had emotional/mental issues to be a gambling addict. He probably was a sociopath, an asshole. Maybe he was a Christer trying to stop people from "sinning." Maybe he was a Trump voter trying to make himself feel more powerful. Who knows.
Hell, I have a starving artist friend who wanted to join in high school. Wanted to learn proper marksmanship and all that, but that cooled right the hell off as she found out how crazy they are.
I tend to think that the word "thug" would have been the chosen description had his skin been a skootch darker. "Lone wolf" really lacks the oomph (that's the technical term) of a true dog whistle.
