Basically the whole interview.
Uh oh, Kellyanne Conway is in a pickle again! She's been, of course, recovering from the the wounds she sustained in the Bowling Green Massacre, and reportedly she is so mad about "Saturday Night Live" making fun of her and her pals that her FACE TURNED TO STONE when it was brought up in a meeting of House Republicans. FACE. TURNED. TO. STONE.
Also Conway had a real shitty interview with ABC's Jake Tapper, who is Wonkette's current boyfriend. (Do not worry, we are still gay-married to Rachel Maddow also.)
The first few minutes of this thing are boring AF, as it is just Kellyanne Conway saying "President" Trump and Vladimir Putin are not BFFs, and that Betsy DeVos is not stupid. Those are dumb lies, but whatever.
It got fun when Jake Tapper played footage of Trump saying the media doesn't cover terrorism, rolled tape of CNN reporters covering terrorism, and Conway spun herself around in circles saying Trump didn't say the thing he said about the media not covering terrorist attacks, but simply meant the media has become "inured" to all the terrorist attacks, and therefore doesn't cover them enough. Tapper was not having it:
TAPPER: Your spin about the idea that we don't want to be inured to that, that's a lovely spin, but that’s not what he was saying, Kellyanne. He was saying the media does not cover these stories, because we don't want to cover them, because we have some sort of agenda. That's what he was suggesting, and. it’s offensive given that CNN and other media organizations have reporters in danger right now in war zones covering ISIS. [...]
And many bullshits fell out of Kellyanne Conway's mouth in response, and they are not worth transcribing.
Tapper then was like SPEAKING OF IGNORING TERRORISM, does "President" Trump have anything to say about that thing that happened in Quebec, where a right-wing terrorist shot up a mosque, killing six people? Conway said Trump doesn't tweet about every little thing, but that he is of course very sad about "any loss of life," and then she pivoted into why Trump wants to do "extreme vetting" to Muslims like the victims of the Quebec attack. For real. She'd like to reassure us, though:
CONWAY: Put us on record as always being sad about the senseless loss of life.
Got it! They are on record as ALWAYS SAD. Tapper still wasn't having it:
TAPPER: He tweeted when there was an attack at the Louvre museum where nobody was killed. I don't understand why he wouldn't tweet when six Canadian citizens were murdered, except for the fact that the ... document that the White House distributed ... last night also did not mention any attacks other than those committed by Muslim terrorists, and obviously radical Islamic terrorism is a big problem, but there are all sorts of kinds of horrific terrorism that take place. We saw some of that in South Carolina recently, and I guess the question is,are these victims any less dead than the ones killed by Islamic radical terrorists?
Conway confirmed that the other victims are just as dead as the victims of Radical Islamic Terrorism, blah blah blah.
Now let's talk about how Trump lied about the murder rate!
TAPPER: For instance, earlier today, Trump made a quote about the murder rate being at the highest level it's ever been in 47 years. He said that, and he said nobody in the media reports on that. There's a reason that nobody in the media reports on that. It's not true. [...]
Facts are stubborn things. And to say that we're not reporting something that happens not to be true, therefore we're not to be trusted, that's a problem.
And he showed Kellyanne Conway a chart.
You will be shocked that Kellyanne Conway pivoted away from that question, said she wanted to address the "broader issue of [the Trump administration's] relationship with the media," and then started bragging about all the meetings she's been going to lately, yadda yadda veterans, yadda yadda WORDS.
TAPPER: You're not addressing what I just talked about. What we're talking about is the fact that the White House is waging war on people who are providing information, sometimes risking their lives to do so, saying that nothing we say is true. All of it is fake. [...]
Every day, there are these sprays of attacks, and sprays of falsehoods, coming from the White House. It would be better if they were not coming from the White House, for me AND for you.
Conway replied with many more words about how if only CNN would cover Trump the way the regime wants to be covered, maybe it would be better, because "this White House and the media have joint custody of our country, perhaps for the next eight years," and she REALLY REALLY wants it to work out, for the good of the children.
But is CNN fake news? That's what Tapper wants to know:
TAPPER: It is very difficult to hear criticisms of the media for making mistakes -- and certainly the media makes mistakes -- but it is very difficult to hear those criticisms from a White House that has so little regard, day in, day out, for facts, for truth, and who calls us "fake news" for stories that they don't like. [...]
Are we fake news, Kellyanne? Is CNN fake news?
CONWAY: No, I don't think CNN is fake news. I think there are some reports elsewhere, in print, on TV, on radio, in conversation that are not well-researched and are based on falseness.
The stories she really doesn't like are the "palace intrigue" stories about how all the Trumpers can't stop fighting and Steve Bannon is the real president and Donald Trump rubs his butt all over the White House. Jake Tapper replies by saying, "If you think the people behind you don't leak [these stories], I will sadly disabuse you of that notion." ZING!
Also Jake Tapper made this face the entire interview, and we are falling in love with him all over again.
THE END.
