What's scary about Vance's performance is that he's better than Trump at masking the danger their ticket poses to America. There's always a cartoonish element to Trump's lying. He can't hide it. Vance has enough Ivy League polish to make his lies sound reasonable to voters who get most of their information from Fox.
Seeing Shady Vance lie on right wing media is one thing. To see him openly lie, evade, dissemble, and obfuscate in an event outside the whackadoodle bubble is something else. The guy is a soulless fucking liar, plain and simple. Absolutely soulless. It goes without saying that this fucker should be nowhere near power, ever.
Vance is a flat out lier. We all know what happened on Jan. 6th. We saw it with our own eyes. It wasn’t peaceful by any stretch of the imagination, and TFG egged it on, encouraged it, and reveled in it. ✊🇺🇸🌊😎
HODGES: I was assaulted many times throughout the day. I was beaten, punched, kicked, pushed, beaten with my own riot baton in the head, crushed with a police shield. Someone tried to gouge out one of my eyes.
I realize the most glaring thing is the "peacefully," but can we pause to consider "gave over power"? He didn't give over power. That power isn't his. It's the voters'. And they took it back and gave it to Biden in November 2020.
I still don't understand why Kamala didn't hit Trump harder on this when she had the chance in their debate. When he claimed that his legal challenges were denied for lack of standing, she could have seized the opportunity to make clear that all several dozen of them were laughed out of court for lack of evidence and the attorneys primarily responsible for bringing them have since been reprimanded, sanctioned, and even disbarred for their knowingly frivolous, unethical conduct. Failing to hammer the point home left it alive for Vance to prevaricate even more, as this article describes. Similarly, on abortion, when Vance did his little speech about how Republicans need to regain people's trust, Walz could have sent him packing by making the simple, painfully obvious point that as president Trump did all he could to betray that trust -and in passing fulfill the GOP's longstanding wish- by knowingly stacking the Supreme Court with people whose unequivocal, express intention was to overturn RvW.
Thanks Evan. Major frustrated, I needed to hear the weird . . . the creepy, the creeping fascism. Did I miss it?
I needed Walz to say he heard they are just a couple of carpet shaggers, and up the ante . . .
He gave us the weird just when we needed it, and said what we have been seeing.
But not last night.
Wonkette covered Rachel Maddow’s investigative report, with the links and receipts, many thanks! [ but the way this app works I can’t go find that link and keep writing . . . agh! ]
Rachel and her great team revealed the real JDV properly and thoroughly . . . that’s what I needed to hear from the Coach. And what we need to hear every day until Nov 5
But then I heard Walz saying that they have similar views on some things . . . unholy hell ! No, no, no.
I could agree with some of what [ insert dictator ] said too . . . if it was stripped of everything else [ insert dictator ] said, and [ insert dictator ] name was taken off of it . . . !
But that is not the main matter at hand.
We have a whole hell of a lot more work to do now,
I doubt this debate moved the needle one way or another. If you went in thinking Walz was a decent, likable guy and Vance was a creepy misogynistic weirdo, nothing you heard or saw last night would have changed your mind.
The real problem is that this country will never again have a shared reality so long as Trumpism dominates the GOP. If party simply refuses to acknowledge reality, there isn’t much hope for any consensus building.
After a reasonably good night's sleep, I thought it went about as well as could be expected.
Walz came across well, was factual, and got in a few good putdowns of T***p.
Vance was polished, but evaded every question, and really stepped on his dick with the questions about Roe and refusing to admit that T***p lost 2020.
While I would not have minded if Walz had gone after Vance more aggressively, a lot of his appeal is being a "nice guy" -- and if I'm being totally honest, it was actually a relief to see a civil debate.
This is so typical of MAGA Republicans - splitting hairs to say PAB "peacefully relinquished power" on Jan 20th - completely ignoring Jan 6. The more you hear Republicans making hairsplitting arguments like this ( "It's a clip, not a magazine", or how ever it goes ) the less credible they are to anyone with even only a trace of a brian
War is peace, after all.
Freedom is Slavery. Ignorance is Strength.

I’ll second that. ✊🇺🇸🌊😎

Remember Trump was such a petty little shit he had his team leave the Bidens on the front porch Jan 20?

ps I recall a peaceful transfer of many, many boxes of classified documents

Vance looked greasy.
Yeah, they were probably trying to make him look more life-like.
Another Republican who clearly has no gay friends.

I don't think it moved the needle either way.
“Why is inflation so high”
V- “immigrants, and therefore Kamala Harris”
“Why are home prices so high”

“Who caused Sandy Hook”

“Do you want victims of sexual assault or mothers whose lives are at risk to not be allowed to have abortions?”

He basically hijacked Air Force 1 on the 20th and loaded it with lovely parting gifts in the form of classified documents. Peaceful transfer, my ass.
"Tim Walz asked, “Did he lose the 2020 election?” referring to Trump.
“Tim, I'm focused on the future,” said JD Vance, humiliating himself."
Sigh.....so many couches, so little time.
