My husband and I flew RyanAir (kind of a UK equivalent to Spirit and JetBlue) and, while the flight itself was cheap, there were extra fees for everything—we were surprised we didn't have to pay a fee just to breathe air on the plane. We'd paid the extra fee to have one large suitcase that had clothing and toiletries for both of us and thought that was good, until we got to the airport for our return flight home. Yep, hubs had paid for luggage that went ONE WAY, not for it to come home with us (and they made us feel quite stupid for assuming it would). So, at the airport, it was another £45 to be able to bring our clothes, undies, and toothbrushes back home with us. We decided right then and there that we would NEVER use that airline again.
Ta, Robyn. I've never flown Spirit; I have heard all the bad things about it. The one time I flew Jet Blue, it was miserable but that was the ex's fault. He picked me up late, and we had to grab the next flight. Our knees were up against the front wall.
Meanwhile, over in medical costs, the FTC is going after corporate practices that roll up an entire state, wiping out competition, and, as per Joe's Executive Order , are likely to swipe down non-competes that they use to eliminate any practitioners they don't control from the market.
I had a frustrating trip on JetBlue recently. I could not check in for a flight. Called the airline and THEY could not check me in either. Made me wonder why the hell had a phone number if the people on the other end could literally do nothing. It was incredible.
If Robert "Borked" Bork was "anti-antitrust," wouldn't that make him PRO-trust? Kinda seems that way.

Not surprising Spirit charging Jet Blue an early exit fee.
Now start breaking up the other behemoths

Antitrust for the win!
Wait, there are options that are not shitty and expensive? Since when?
Not since the late 70s when Carter deregulated the airlines
Awww...so no Blue Spirit Airline????? Booooo!!!!
is this the socialism we were warned about?
Is it better to have two of them roaming free? A merger would have guaranteed one bankruptcy.

Good moves for people who have to pay for stuff!
YAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY!
GOOD. I do fly on Southwest since it's 1/2 to sometimes even 1/3 the price of Delta but I do NOT Trust Spirit with jack shit.
Student loan debt, health insurance costs, air travel costs, things Democrats fight to make better, things Republicans fight to make worse.

The non-commenters on all of Wonkette seem to be especially crabby and negative today.
oh shut up.
I'm sticking with my bicycle, it may not be statistically safer but the in ride entertainment is way better.
I love my bike, but it's a bit time-consuming when you have to get from one side of the country to the other.
As my coach would say "peddle harder".
As a Certified Pedant (TM) I am obliged to point out that you almost certainly meant "pedal harder".
Hard to tell, my coach had a thick French accent
"Of course ah am Fraansh! Wha to you sink ah have zis Out-rraageous ac-CENT!!"
