Well, my goal for this year, budgetwise, is to be able to cook meals for the unhoused twice a month instead of just once. I'm hoping that by June, after my property taxes are paid, I can get that set up.
I am such a whiner about the money situation I am in. It's not a bad situation, "I only have $300 mad money from each paycheck," I whine, "after every single other bill is paid including my weed habit and nails being covered. Oh, I am so broke because I cannot run out and buy a big new monitor," I whine because I have no discipline to put back $100 for 3 months so I can buy a monitor. Whiner=me.
I can't donate as much as I would like to the wonks. But you all care more about me budgeting my time for you, I am sure.
Like the internet companies saying caps are good for people actually, the CC companies will tell the Republicans that higher interest will help people be more fiscally conservative or something.
Yeah, my work requires me to work using 6 folders open at all times so I can break PDFs up. Right now I have one big monitor to work from and a small screen for all the folders, and another small screen after that, but I want ONE screen (to rule them all).
I know people have been talking about how some replacement rule is supposed to keep PAB from sticking "K$H" into the FBI right away, but I feel like the flaw in that idea, which no one has acknowledged yet, is that it depends on PAB giving a damn about following the rules, or the lapdogs in the Senate holding him to them.
Wray was the only small roadblock, and that was based on a statement a week or so ago that he intended to serve his entire term, which seemed to be setting up a fight. Now that he's backed down, all that matters is the Senate.
David French suggests in the New York Times that Wray’s resignation may have been an act of defiance against Trump, a fuck you that may not be immediately apparent to the naked eye. We don’t know if he’s right or not — read through his Bluesky post and the comments below it to suss it out for yourself — but the general gist is that if Wray had stayed on and waited for Trump to fire him, Trump could theoretically have gotten Kash into a position where he’d be eligible to be appointed as acting director while Wray was still emptying out his desk, skipping the Senate altogether. It has to do with the Vacancies Reform Act, which governs who is eligible to be appointed as an acting. Kash currently doesn’t qualify in any way.
It seems more parsimonious that Wray buggered off while the getting was good because as much as it will suck for us peons, we won't be actual targets for a bit yet, while people like Wray are gonna get it week one.
Oh man, I got my travel reimbursement this morning from my trip to Seattle last week so where will be a Christmas after all. Everyone is getting the same thing this year: chocolates from the chocolate shop on main street. The highlight of Christmas for me is to have the most desired gift in the white elephant. People think the most desired gift is alcohol, but I have done well with salt shakers and cutting boards. A box of chocolates, no doubt, will be a smash hit. I hate every other god dawned thing about The Holidays.
I've actually used some soup bowls, cutting boards and other stuff I got over the years, which some people might turn up their noses at. I hate to be a Bah Humbug but it annoys me when I give something thoughtful and end up with crap. I've thought about putting a $20 in a big box, just to save myself trouble.
I fucking HATE the white elephant exchange where you can steal other people's gifts. I always end up with some bullshit because I won't steal other people's shit. I do not find it fun or amusing.
Agreed. I do not know who came up with that "game" but I find it irritating. Someone's feelings are always hurt because no one wants their gift. Someone's feelings are always hurt because someone took the thing they got. Why make competitive nasty out of gift giving?
course, I have all the natural competitiveness of the common wood plank so I could just be missing something.
Hello to the graveyard shift. I wasn't able to fall asleep due to this damn anxiety, so I took an Ativan and hanging out with you until it kicks in. It's starting to work.

lot of those people don't precisely have a choice. In our human trafficking training, they pretty much check all the boxes for the "slave labor" portion.
Threats of deportation, threats of violence, withholding pay, etc.
What about me?
Shut down Selective Service.
End The Draft Registration.
Repeal the Solomon Amendment.

If you own the presidency, the courts and congress, almost anything is possible.
Sobering thought.
even though Republicans have been pushing for them to be re-imprisoned, for reasons.
Gonna guess the main reason is those Republicans own stock in for profit prisons
It's because they're mean.
Of course.
And we've found one of the 1300 that maybe shouldn't have had their sentence commuted, so expect a day of "This was all bad, actually."
oh nos! One that maybe we do not like outta 1500!
*makes interesting motion involving wrist action and curled hand*
Course, maybe that is why it was commuted and not pardoned, sort of thing. Still on person's record and what not.
I hear that particular motion in the wrist could cause carpal tunnel. Use with caution...
And grow hair on my knuckles. Which would be nice right now.
Woke up and turned on the comp and it said it was -5.
Someone set my browser temp to metric again XD I think it is the spawn, they think it is funny

I really want that 48" monitor.
Buy soon, they're shrinking!
That's not a monitor... that's a TV!
This is why they make credit cards!
/do not do that. I am being the joking with the jokes
I am trying to pay my CCs off before I am 50. -_-
I hear ya
Just had a heap o car issues and well, I had just paid down the cards, so they were there when I needed em.
No, credit karma, I do NOT want to see my new score thanks. Get back to me in a few months
Good luck, the rates are criminal.
I fully expect them to go up.

With Wray resigning, this appointment wouldn't be breaking any rules.

No, they say Wray's timing his resignation to trigger that rule.
Huh. There is obviously some more reading I need to do. Any references?
Yeah, from yesterday's articles right here:

Now that my folks are gone I haven't had invitations to horrific family holiday BS and it makes my life a lot more peaceful.

For me it was sitting around listening to idiots talk about the dumbest shit imaginable.
