Musk’s strategy of selling environmentally sound cars to MAGAs who cold care less if the world burned as long their meth didn’t seems to be going well.
"...the transportation industry, which is currently America’s biggest source of greenhouse emissions."
Except for the military, which gets a free pass to pollute as much as they want, without any required mechanisms for determining or reporting emissions, let alone reducing them.
Ya, EV sales are not down, that's propaganda. All the new cars I see are EVs. My complex is full of EVs now. They were as rare as cybertrucks, not so long ago. More local factories means less imports, that's good. Support the team. And of course the best news for EVs is James Inhofe is still dead.
A bit ironic in that direct state investment in the private sector -- specifically in the EV market -- is what the US has been accusing China of doing.
There was a bit in "Apocalypse Now" where the Americans had gone into some Vietnamese village and inoculated all the children against... something. Anyway, as soon as the Americans had left, the Viet Cong came in and immediately cut the arms off all of the children, intending to prevent the American vaccine from having any good effect so nobody would have any reason to praise the Americans.
Trump's determination to undo alll the good works of his predecessors -- first Obama, now Biden -- reminds me of that.
GOOD. I think in some parts of the country we NEED to start framing investments in green energy as "not letting China win" as they're trying to monopolize the green energy sector and we're one of the main things stopping them.
"giving voters in those areas reason to stick with the team that, for example, is bringing new, good-paying jobs to the Wisconsin site of the Foxconn factory that never materialized under Donald Trump."
The Daily Show's Ronny Chieng "investigates" this story:
What a bizarre piece, suggesting that after the Foxconn deal collapsed years ago, the new Microsoft data center, which is not showing any signs of skipping town, is a similar boondoggle. The Daily Show has been drinking a lot of bothsides Flavor-Aid since Stewart got back.
I'm not sure how true this is, but I read an article that introduced the advent of iron-based cathodes in EV batteries. This could be a game changer in the economics for team green, make it cheap and even craziest Magat will buy it.
If you're feeling worried about the election, look at it from another perspective--if you're a Republican, you're looking at the fact that Biden just had a fiasco of a debate and has spent the next two weeks having the entire media and a big chunk of his own party call for him to be replaced as the nominee, and not only have Trump's poll numbers not increased, but Biden's have only dropped by a couple points.
When the conventional wisdom is "Biden is too senile to even be here" and yet "he's still in striking distance of Trump"--well, Republicans might be feeling the way we often feel when Trump gets insanely bad news and yet it barely dents his support.

Ta, Dok. Nice Times.

The military has been aware of and planning for and working toward solutions to climate change for longer than any other branch of the US government.

It matters, and if we can get more capacity quicker, all the better.
Way too little, way too late. Physics doesn't care about politics. Do more.
What can they do that would make you happy? I’m looking for a greater level of detail than “more“.

Do you not understand how politics work?

It was Smallpox. Huge fan of that movie

There are several ideas floating about, fairly close to production, that will make big changes.
They may buy it, but they will still also complain about it
You betcha
🎶 And I look back on Venus
I look back on Mars
Looking forward to driving
Those E-electric cars. 🎶
On that train all graphite and glitter
Undersea by rail
Ninety minutes from New York to Paris
Well by seventy-six we'll be A-OK
And in time
And in time
We will aaaaaaallllllll
Beeeeeeee
STAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRS 🎶🎵

That is the best part 😅

I am not stoned yet, but I heard someone describing our slide into fascism accurately on NPR!!! I may still be stoned from last night...
I'm glad to have heard the words "project 2025" come out of the mouths of the presenters,
BUT!
the top-of-the-hour news bumper LITERALLY SAID "DEMOCRATS....IN DISARRAY" in pointing out the, what, nine? noisemakers... :/
No surprise there.
There are too many dumbstupid people, as I have seen Evan describe them, who are allowed to make rules
yeeeeeees
That Foxconn was a classic cut-n-run. Take the kickbacks, get the votes, then skedaddle.
Not unlike the Carrier deal in Indiana that crashed and burned

I don’t care how they feel
I believe their relevant phrase was
"F**K Their Feelings", or something like
#VoteBlue 💙💙💙
Fucking awesome, unless, loser wins... ;>(
