"Analysts predict a surge in Hunter Biden stories."

Zoom, yer killing me.

Wookiee Monster's avatar

If impeaching Hunter Biden’s penis doesn’t work, House republicans’ next play will be to shut down the government unless Biden and Harris resign immediately.

“If impeaching Hunter Biden’s penis doesn’t work…”

What could possibly go wrong with that brilliant plan?

Revenant's avatar

Way past time for the American people to face up to one fundamental truth; what is good for them is poison to the GQP and their predatory masters. When America, broadly speaking, does well, Republicans do poorly.

(side note, not entirely OT- WayneGacy La Pierre has just resigned from his position atop the NRA)

Let the rejoicing begin!

"Analysts predict a surge in Hunter Biden stories."

Like you need an analyst to predict that one.

Lounge Lizard's avatar

I recommended this post for the line "Analysts predict a surge in Hunter Biden stories." But the sad part is that it is probably correct.......................

Russell Jones's avatar

The liberal (lol) MSM will tell us that this dooms the Biden administration despite how well the economy is doing objectively, because Cletus and his inbred stump-jumping relatives don't FEEL like the economy is doing will. So, then, "fuck your feelings" but only where "your" = "libs."

"I once again forgot to take advantage of the 10 percent discount for shoppers over 55 at my local Albertson’s"

My local store has a 10% day for seniors every week. It is terrifying. Do NOT get between a suburban Old and her 10% discount. Even though I qualify, I avoid it like plague (and also because of the plague)

Wookiee Monster's avatar

I turn 55 this year. Gimme that senior discount? I need something since republicans will eventually raise the age for social security to “dead.”

Mx.le Maerin's Luxury Comedy's avatar

I took advantage of a senior discount for the first time in my life a week or so back, and they were so rude as to not even ask me to prove I qualified for it. Hmph.

Lounge Lizard's avatar

B*stards! Don't feel bad, though. I got offered my first senior discount when I was 39. that pretty much deflated me for a month. Although in her defense, the clerk was about 15, so from her perspective I apparently seemed 65.

Khavrinen's avatar

When I was a Junior in high school, I asked one of the kids ( ~10-12 ) at the music camp where I was a counselor how old she thought I was.

She said 35.

My niece got her first AARP card when she turned 21. She was irate. Still just 42 now.

I'm not a billionaire yet. This economy sucks. Papoon for President.

Khavrinen's avatar

You're not a billionaire yet?

I can only conclude that you're not voting Republican *hard enough*.

( Many of the voters in Red states seem to think this strategy will [eventually] work. )

> Some have noticed that Professor Prettypaws is typing and looking where a screen should be, but there’s no computer monitor. Don’t be silly. Cats can see things we can’t!

Reading something out-of-frame, and typing without looking at the screen. That happens all the time in data-entry.

suziq's avatar

Obviously, the computer screen the Kitty is looking at is just out of the picture. He obviously has vision problems (hence glasses) so the screen needs to be farther away to see it properly. Obviously.

"you know what that means: I once again forgot to take advantage of the 10 percent discount for shoppers over 55 at my local Albertson’s grocery yesterday"

Shit...me too.

Revenant's avatar

The best the groceries in my area will do is open an hour early one day a week for geezers, and the only time I ever tried to take advantage of it most of the shoppers were obviously middle-aged, 30-50. But then, who's going to enforce "seniors only" and how? No admittance without showing your AARP or Medicare card?

Gary Seven in Space's avatar

Yeah, they don't want to offend customers- bad business.

ResistanceFictionistaBlondeIQ's avatar

Let's simplify this: if something good happens, like a great jobs report, that is bad for Biden. If something bad happens, like a mass shooting or a train derailment, that is also bad for Biden. Weather events are bad for Biden. Conjoined twins being separated is bad for Biden.

Caepan's avatar

Finding a couple extra fries at the bottom of the bag? Bad for Biden.

Khavrinen's avatar

Not only that, but despite everyone telling us his age is going to lose him the election, he just keeps getting older.

*Sad, disappointed head shake*

Revenant's avatar

some people just never learn, now do they?

House of the Blue Lights's avatar

Had that thing happen again where none of the local stores had milk. Like, none (checked four stores). This is because whoever their jobber is sucks, it happens several times a year.

But I'd rather blame Biden.

Seattle minimum-wage earners will now be paid about $20 an hour, topping every other major city in the nation. As of Jan. 1, large employers in Seattle, defined as having at least 501 employees, must pay $19.97 per hour. Small employers with 500 or fewer employees can pay $17.25 an hour if they also pay $2.72 an hour toward medical benefits or the employee earns at least $2.72 an hour in tips. Since Seattle’s minimum wage ordinance went into effect in 2015, increases take place every year on Jan. 1 to reflect the rate of inflation. At $19.97 an hour, a minimum-wage employee in Seattle who works full time would earn around $40,000.

Washington state’s minimum wage also went up this month by 54 cents, to $16.28 an hour. That beats California’s $16 an hour but is still lower than the District of Columbia’s $17 per hour.

Revenant's avatar

No doubt all the local media outlets are predicting the failure or flight of most of Seattle's businesses. But hey, ARE their even any businesses still open? I have been assured that the city was burned flat four years ago and remains virtually uninhabited, resembling Dresden in March of 1945.

Eva, Iron Goddess of Mercy's avatar

The workers at my local Dunkies got raises starting on January 1, so I'm sure they're all paid minimum wage. They were so apologetic when we got our regular order, because Dunkies raised the prices to make up for the extra they have to pay their staff now (actually, our regular order only went up 43 cents, so it really wasn't a big deal at all).

Biff52 Lost Canadian's avatar

The prices would go up regardless of what the employees are paid. Those stock options and cash bonuses gotta be paid for somehow! But we never hear about it unless there's labor to blame.

Gary Seven in Space's avatar

THIS is what I kept trying to explain to people! The prices will go up, but not a huge amount, but the effects of the increase will be felt throughout the Economy because the lower end spends that money in their neighborhoods instead of buying back stocks!

Lefty Wright's avatar

Meanwhile North Carolina and I bet most red states still have $7.25. Although around here you will not find anyone to work for that amount.

Khavrinen's avatar

"People don't want to work anymore!!!!"

Pandora's avatar

Florida's minimum wage is $12 an hour, not because of the assholes in our legislature, but because voters got tired of them refusing to raise it and passed a constitutional amendment in 2020 to raise it to $15 an hour by 2026. It goes up $1/hr each September until we get there.

ResistanceFictionistaBlondeIQ's avatar

Their solution to that is undocumented 7th-graders.

Thank you, Olympia legislators and Governor Inslee. Between good leadership and informed voting this state is a damned good place to be.

I'd rather return to 1969 than 1968. Really.

At least 1969 had Joe Namath and Apollo 11. The closest thing to a feel-good moment in 1968 was O.J. Simpson winning the Heisman trophy.

A moment that hasn't aged well.

Richard S's avatar

You forgot the Mets!!!!

Gary Seven in Space's avatar

I'd argue Apollo 8 was a good moment in '68...

Dick Fritter's avatar

Won't someone please think of 1967? (also, 1968 was the year when the highest number of American children died in Vietnam).

Revenant's avatar

Ah yes, 1968- the year of the Tet offensive and the election of Millhouse Nixon. Good times, good times.

Dick Fritter's avatar

And let's not forget the Democratic National Convention in Chicago and all the fascism that took place (ever notice how the cops show up with batons and rubber bullets when it's "the left" protesting for social justice?)...

Revenant's avatar

Mayor Dailey said " The policeman is not here to create disorder. The policeman is here to preserve disorder." How true that is.

I successfully completed first grade in 1968!

Uncle Milburn's avatar

Also, the best year for VW bugs.

Paulomatic's avatar

My first car, in 69, was a bug. An older one, maybe 66? It had the single rear window, but still didn't have a fuel gauge. It was always a hilarious moment trying to find, then kick over, that reserve lever while driving. Great memories.

blueicebank's avatar

Naw. 1968's saving moment was Apollo 8 going to the moon and circling ... a 1st

LuluBean12 StarGeezer's avatar

Apollo 8 was huge for me, but in the summer I went on my first long trip, with a couple of other public school teachers. A HS science teacher (me) a HS history teacher and a kindergarten teacher (all of graduates of a local Catholic woman's college) drove across the US with most of the travel being in the western US. What I called the "Born to be Wild" tour since I swear that song was always playing on the radio. My poor dad was worried about all the race riots , hippies and protestors getting after us. It was a great 2 month trip ... not dangerous at all.

Adonna Frankel's avatar

My family of 6 spent 2 months in the summer 68 trailering across the country. But don't forget. 1969- Woodstock!
