The only bright spot here is that both Democrats and Republicans don't like Manchin, and hopefully his ego won't let him go down in third party flames.

He is not a centrist. I know that window has been shifted right, but Concerned Susan is more centrist than Joe is, and she is not one either.

Biden is a centrist. Machin is center right, at best.

In my mind a centrist is just a contrarian who thinks he’s smarter than either side.

He was the only Dem to vote against Ana de Alba for the 9th Circuit. Yesterday, after he announced he’s retiring. Terrible to the end.

https://news.bloomberglaw.com/us-law-week/latina-judicial-trailblazer-elevated-to-largest-appellate-court

Ana de Alba has been elevated to the nation’s largest appellate court a little over a year after becoming the first Hispanic female trial judge in her California district.

De Alba, the daughter of farm workers who immigrated from Mexico, was confirmed on Monday, 48-43, to the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Like McConnell, no one will miss him when he's gone, although some will seek his grave for a full bladder visit. Like Rand Paul, nobody will remember him save for his intensely jailable daughter.

My daddy’s about the same age as Manchin. I'm gonna ask him to beat Manchin up.

"...which of the two parties actively promotes chaos and has a free-range Marjorie Taylor Greene."

Entirely TOO free-range.

Who did nazi this coming hmmm?

The Bipartisan Party always delivers, and this is what they deliver.

"Myopic thinking" is a very very very undeservedly nice way of saying it.

"Both parties are the same" is a straight-up fascist-enabling lie that no one who hasn't been living in the Marianas Trench since Watergate could possibly believe, and every three minutes brings new proof.

Smibo's avatar

Speaking of fascist-enabling lies that no one who hasn't been living in the Marianas Trench since Watergate could possibly believe, there's also the idea that Republican-controlled state legislatures' voter suppression efforts have anything at all to do with protecting "the integrity of elections."

Seems like one party in particular is a veritable font of these sorts of fascist-enabling lies. If only there was a word that could adequately describe that ethos...

Fuck Joe Manchin and the coal train he rode in on

Lefty Wright's avatar

So what Manchin is saying is instead of raising living standards in West Virginia (which he failed to do after 40 years in state and federal office) he wants to lower the living standards of the other 47 states to that of West Virginia. States with better educational outcomes, lower poverty rates, higher incomes, and generally less reliance on federal assistance.

Fuck Joe Manchin. That is all.

Fuck Joe Manchin with Ted Cruz.

Imagine if, now that he’s announced he’s not running for re-election, he actually DID things that would make life better for his constituents. Like the expanded child tax credit, and protecting voting and reproductive rights. I know, I know, it’s clear he’s not done with the attention that being in politics brings, so he can’t be arsed to help anyone but himself.

Clarence Thomas benefactor Harlan Crow is behind No Labels $$$, so view this as another GOP party like RFK Jr. so called Independent one. (Remember that he started out saying he was a Democrat like McManchin did and then realized No Dems were falling for it?) lets not fall for any of these shenanigans! Vote 💙

Surely there can’t be anyone so goddamned stupid as to vote third party this time around. Right? RIGHT?

JustDontSayDittos's avatar

I already heard some asshole on NPR this morning proclaiming he won't vote for Joe Biden because he refuses to condemn Israel's bombardment of Gaza. I share his outrage, but seriously, it's not like Trump would be a better choice or something. Fucking purists will be the death of us all.

Buz 13's avatar

I'm really over the media beating the bushes to find a Biden hater, but there's not one former Trump supporter out there who shudder at the thought of his running for another team. It's all sketchy af.

Shire Jansen's avatar

Wishing that were true, but can already see another response that indicates no, we have too many stupid people that are unable to think for themselves and believe the lies of a career conman. 😐

Up Here in the Clouds's avatar

Never underestimate the stupidity of an American voter. I work with, for example, one woman who will only vote Republican, even if it's TFG because her father made her promise to only vote Republican. He's been dead 56 years. Another says Hillary Clinton was the best candidate in years, but a woman should not be president, so he voted for guess who? Or the woman who hates the current Republican party, but is registered as a Republican, so feels voting for anyone else or changing her registration would not be fair.

Shire Jansen's avatar

Well, perhaps the first and last ones mentioned could be persuaded to follow tfg request to not vote? He said they have plenty of votes already so just show them this (try not to laugh until later) and then they can just keep on doing stupid without causing harm to the Country.

The road to gas chambers is lined with earnest folks like these, tut-tutting as President Stephen Miller's enemies are marched past them to their deaths

Shire Jansen's avatar

So disturbing! I retired early because I couldn't stand supporting/working with people that were so oblivious to facts, dug the chaos of tfg & muskrat and parroted Faux News verbatim.
