During that time, he got ticketed on the outerbelt around Columbus (I-270) for passing an emergency vehicle on the left that had its lights and siren going. One of the first things he did as Governor was call a meeting of the State Highway Patrol where he brought up this incident and referred to the trooper who ticketed him as an idiot.
