John Oliver responded to the madness in Ferguson, Missouri, by noting that the story is "depressingly familiar," and that while we still don't have any definite answers in the shooting of Michael Brown, "what is absolutely clear is that the police have handled everything since then terribly." The tone-deaf police response started with St. Louis County Police Chief John Belmar's explanation that Brown had been shot not a whole
Ug, it makes me so depressed that policing has devolved into this ultra-aggressive, heavily-armed, over-reactive force that can&#039;t be trusted and should be avoided, particularly if you are a little too dark-complexioned. We the taxpayers pay large amounts of money, thanks to Homeland Security directives, to buy war toys for swat forces, when what we need are trained peace officers. <a href="http://nymag.com/daily/inte..." target="_blank">" rel="nofollow noopener" title="http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2014/08/insa...">http://nymag.com/daily/inte...
another war crime to charge Darth Cheney; Sugarbush; Halliburton, etc., with. These thuggish small town departments didn&#039;t develop in a vacuum. How many of them got their start with &#039;security&#039; companies? Once Obummer withdrew all the people they were getting fat cash to protect in Iraq, they had to go find work somewhere. The smarter ones got jobs writing grants or consulting with the towns to help get the equipment (with I&#039;m sure, huge percentage bonuses on sales). The dumb ones used their &#039;experience&#039; to get jobs as peace keepers.
Wonder what Eisenhower woulda thought of this military industrial complex?
No excuses being made, but I gotta mention that police everywhere need worry everyone may have a gun. Thanks NRA, for making everyone* safer. _________________________________ * except about a 9/11 of dead people almost every month
