John Oliver Tackles That American Football Team With The Racist Name (Video)
Here's John Oliver and Last Week Tonight's contribution to the controversy over the name of the "football team for some reason not yet formerly known as the Washington Redskins." Except of course that the team name's wrongness is not so much "controversial" as "completely obvious" to just about everyone but team owner Dan Snyder. Now, if only someone could make an ad illustrating just how weak the argument is for keeping that name... And so here it is.
Pekin, Illinois, is named that because it's half way around the world from Pekin, China.
In 1981 the high school changed its mascot's name from the "Chinks" to the "Dragons."
