On Tuesday'sThe Daily Show, it was pretty much the same old thing. Some jokes, an interview ... oh, and the announcement that after 17 years, Jon Stewart is leaving the show. "I am a terrible employee,” he said, “and it is time for someone else to have that opportunity."
Agreed, but they play excellent foils to Jon, they'd have to completely alter their schticks to take over the anchor roles. Aasif was always more incredulous about things rather than playing the character (Sam Bee or Jason Jones could have been good Colbert replacements, though!)
The aftermath of 2000's presidential election between George W. Bush and Al Gore ... When Bush said that he "was not elected to serve one party," Stewart quipped: "You were not elected."
All kidding aside... Yesterday a 45 year old teacher at our school died of cancer. leaving a wife and a 4 and 6 yr old behind. Jon's comment that he will now get to have dinner with his family hit home- my friend was the football coach. I wonder how many dinners with his family he missed for practice and games?
I don't know what to do without Jon. For me, I will always treasure his take-downs of Glen Beck. And so much else. I can understand wanting a change, but dammit, Jon, BEFORE the 2016 campaign? WTF?
No snark, but a long-overdue golf clap for Lizz WInstead, without whom -- much like the Hong Kong Fireworks Company -- all of this would not have been necessary.

One of the best moments ...

My thought exactly.

NO!!
I think Larry is going to be just fine. I always liked him on TDS and I think that he's settling in quite nicely.

Norm MacDonald, at least until he clears up his gambling debts/ gets sick of it.

in the last post?
Can we eat pizza with a knife & fork now?
Daily Show makes so-called "real" journalists ask themselves "What will Jon Stewart say about my reporting?"
Brian Williams is already sending audition tapes. Actually just his regular news reports but stamped "fake".
Sarah Palin. Unless ... unless ... no, it can't be ... she's serious about that bullshit she says!?
