Not for nothing but why is this fossil still on the bench after 4 decades? Pathetic.

Ah, yes. That drawing Trump made describing the tumor on his prostate.

If a Republican president can make fundamental changes to the Fourteenth Amendment with an Executive Order, a Democratic president could do the same to the Second Amendment.

Wait until Trump starts talking about taking guns away from folks, because it is coming.

As I posted earlier ... and as have about a zillion legal nerds in America said ... you simply cannot say "you are no longer subject to the laws of America" while at the same time same "oh yeah, you aren't an American, and aren't a tourist, and aren't here on a visa ... but you still have to pay taxes and and drive the speed limit and obey gun laws, etc etc etc" ... etc etc ad infinitum.

These are people who pay taxes, have jobs, contribute to their communities ... there is zero basis / allowance for changing at the whim of a Nazi idiot.

For people who wave around pocket Constitutions like Red Guards brandishing The Thoughts of Chairman Mao, Republicans don't seem to know what's in the Constitution. They're also trying to bypass the 22nd Amendment with legislation to allow The Very Special Boy to run for a 3rd term.

Maelen Moonsinger's avatar

"The 22nd Amendment only refers to candidates who have not descended into advanced senility"?

I expect the EO to get shitcanned at the SC. I also expect Trump to utterly ignore that fact. He’ll carry on as if the order is valid and in effect, continuing to issue illegal orders like withholding passports and such. Why? Because who’s going to stop him? He’s going to do whatever he wants because the only remedy is impeachment, and that ain’t happening. Even if by some miracle the House drew up and passed articles, the idea that there are nineteen Republican senators willing to convict is simply risible. This order is going to be the bellwether for the next four years. Either that, or it’s just some Overton Window bullshit to get the ball rolling. Who can tell with this lot.

Himself as well. Fred Trump was only a citizen by birthright, since his parents were illegal immigrants (his father was deported, and then sneaked back in to the country), and Mary McLeod Trump was an illegal immigrant (overstayed her visa).

We're Making Rickets Great Again.

LOU LOU's avatar

While people make comparisons between Trump and Hitler it is noteworthy that the decline of Germany empowered the rise of Hitler and has Trump. The USA as well as many other countries are in decline and new, more powerful empires are emerging. Trump, nor any of this ilk and enablers will make America Great Again because the USA is built on causes that have an effect, and this effect is generally not good. Causes can be denied, forbidden to be discussed, or history can be re-written. It does not change one of the core facts of life, cause and effect happens. Rather than great again, America can be good creating better causes and effects but who knows if it will be called America then.

The G-7 Experience's avatar

Why the ever loving fuck do you buy into THEIR framing the "the US is in decline"?

We are the wealthiest nation on earth with the most powerful military... Where is "decline"

Even with all of the bullshit more people are out of poverty and receiving healthcare than EVER before....

Please try to change your points of reference to see the "bullshittiness" of the "US in decline" assumption.

Maelen Moonsinger's avatar

According to some people, the United States has been in decline since at least 1777.

A British statesman put it best when he said that a monarchy was like a fine sailing ship that glided effortlessly through the water, but every so often hit a rock and sank. A republic, on the other hand, was like a raft. You'll never sink, but your feet will never be dry either.

The G-7 Experience's avatar

This "decline" thing is a political tool...you can easily excuse yourself for doing "nefarious' things if you can argue everything is swirling down so......

We still live in a great Nation that can always do better...and we continue to advance when we can!

RRJKR's avatar

I don't see the "decline" either. More Trumpian mythology

fair_n_hite_451's avatar

The "decline" is in the entire moral arc of the nation.

Americans LOVE to wrap themselves in the fact that they are a special nation, empowered to inflict their particular brand of government upon the rest of us peons.

Newsflash. We (those of us outside the borders of your country) recognize that you are a nation ruled by a minority cult of abject fucking Nazis. Therefore nothing ... NOTHING ... you say at the global stage has any impact / meaning.

You want to leave the Paris Accords? Sure, fuck you, we'll continue on because we care about the planet.

You want to prostrate yourself in support of Israel even though you hate "Jews"? Sure, fuck you, we'll continue to advocate for an accommodation for Gaza citizens that treats them like actual humans with rights.

You want to allow China to invade Taiwan .. and Putin to wank himself to sleep by invading a sovereign nation like Ukraine. Fuck off and die in a fire. The rest of the world still understands what basic human dignity looks like.

And yes, I get that he won with less than 50% of the vote. And there are millions ... hundreds of millions ... who disagree with his policies. The fact that he even had a chance is the indicator of the moral decline...

The G-7 Experience's avatar

Who is this "YOU" asshat?

A minority is like this here and they have some power now...Look to your own YOU's who are driving Rightwing forces throughout the Western democracies.

Get YOUR house in order.

This is not a "decline" ...it is a last desperate attempt to fuck us all by a minority of Christian Nationalists...

You have a funny notion of "decline" anbd fucking don't even gish-gallop on me now fucker...

fair_n_hite_451's avatar

I would try and respond to your comment ... except that you can't even string together a cohesive sentence.

Take 5. No, take 24.

Come back when you are willing to ask a question that can be debated. Or present arguments supporting your position that "America is the greatest nation on Earth" (I'm guess a bit here ... because, again, you don't actually make sense at all, but I'm willing to entertain within reason)

The G-7 Experience's avatar

NO you have gish-galloped from the term "decline" to the Gish Gallop of "Best Ever" Go fuck yourself, I'm not debating you on those redonkulous terms!

YOU were weighing in on MY conversation with SOMEONE ELSE and tried to hijack it.

I say we are not in decline economically or militarily to them and you pop up with this. Stay on your side of the street, ferigner...

Robert Eckert's avatar

You said we are not in decline economically or militarily. He responded that we are in decline morally, which I think is hard to deny. You tried an incoherent tu quoque response, although you don't really know what country he's from, not that that would be relevant.

LOU LOU's avatar

The USA is in decline and has been for many years regardless of the few points you write to the contrary. It is too complex to write the reasoning here. So let's agree to disagree.

The G-7 Experience's avatar

No- you are wrong and it is not an “innocent “ wrong..,it is destructive.

Prove it! By what standard?

LOU LOU's avatar

United States Government debt accounted for 123.1 % of the country's Nominal GDP in Sep 2024, compared with the ratio of 122.3 % in the previous quarter. It is no better today in early 2025. Add this to the decline in the environment that occurs as more resources are extracted to increase the GDP to reduce debt, USA (and many other capitalist countries) are on a decline. One way a country could increase their GDP significantly is by sucking up another country's GDP and declaring it now of their nation. Likely core motivation for Trump gov's idea of tarrifs and taking over Canada and Greenland is to increase GDP by other country's labours and is a sure sign of an empire in decline, and in desperation, but pretending to be strong.

The G-7 Experience's avatar

WTF are you talking about? .8 GDP decrease that one time....? Weak.

We just came out of a 100 year pandemic that had an effect on the whole world's economy, but not a sign of a "decline" that your initial statement was made about. You are "post non-comment" rationalizing now and you know it!

fair_n_hite_451's avatar

Moral standing as the self promoted "super power" of the world? Please explain how you think "America" is the righteous leader of the free world that you seem happy to express. (not you personally, I'm speaking of the uSA's general stance at the UN or Davos or the G7 or anything similar.

There WAS a time when America was indeed the "shining city on the hill" ... but that has long passed. And it passed when the right wing of American politics decided that money (and the access to money that was provided by staying in power) was more important then people.

The America of JFK and the moon landings? Inspirational.

The America of Vietnam and Nixon and the Kent State Massacre? pathetic and not only embarrassing, but frightening for the rest of us.

And its honestly been downhill since then.

The G-7 Experience's avatar

That is the GISH GALLOP....moral decline now...like Italy who drowns migrants and France who subjects Armenians to a Ghetto that is "declining" into Apartheid...seriously...go fuck off, we are not your anything....except saving you from fascism awhile ago.

fair_n_hite_451's avatar

So, that's your defence for America's current decent into Fascism?

"This one time, 100 years ago, when I wasn't alive, and neither were you, we did a good thing"?

You DO understand how fucking weak that argument is, right?

The rest of your BARELY coherent post is a bunch of strawman "both sides" arguments. What does Trump's love for fascism have to do with Italy? Are you and the people you support so weak, spineless and snowflakey that something that a country 2000 miles away did hurts your fee fees?
