It's a concentration camp. One of the least lovely but most popular inventions of the British Empire.

It should never be called Alligator Alcatraz, which minimizes its horror. DeSantis Camp 1 will do.

Some one must have taken the keys to truth social. Except for the choadiest choads, FL's concentration camp was unpopular. Better to stay quiet secure in the knowledge that thus will be the last judge in the matter who gives a crap about the law.

The environmental reasons alone...but silly me, the Supreme Court won't care. We know their job is to help and support this dictatorship.

Chris Hayes was all "Am I crazy, or..." last night and he was assured by his guests he was not.

Of course, Chris was just pointing out the truth, his guests were a bit more violent.

How do you love Trump claiming he's the nation's chief law enforcement officer? And the massively "seen through" distraction of searching Bolton's house? As Chris said, it's case of Trump saying "I'm rubber, you're glue," which of course is fourth grade playground stuff.

Obvious to all, no doubt, but this judge was smart enough to agree with the environmental issue rather than writing in her decision, "I'm closing this atrocity because Trump and Co. are assholes, pure and simple." Not to mention the cleverness of the group that brought the suit. Stand by for the appeal.

Gorsuch has a soft spot for indigenous rights, so getting the local indigenous people into the action was a brilliant move. Not that they would have been reluctant.

It’s not true. He’s happily voted against Apache Stronghold/Oak Flats twice, in favor of Rio Tinto making a crater if it. Injunctive relief now, for the third time, but when it gets to SC he’ll vote against the indigenous folks again. That was a whitewash, to make some part of him seem human.

OT, but with a whole new Supreme Court (and court system) coming in on 1 September here in Mexico, nobody is taking any chances... shamans are going to cleanse the chamber the morning before the first court session (the incoming chief justice is a Oaxacan Mixe). I can't imagine how many shamans, priests, imans, rabbis, gurus you'd need to cleanse yours.

Ta, Gary. At every protest of this maladministration I want to see the crowds chanting "Epstein. EPstein! EPSTEIN!!" the way "Goldberg!" was the ultimate epithet during the Two Minutes' Hate.

Around here, those white gumboots are called "Chicken Boots" because they are worn by chicken processing plant workers. Would also seem appropriate for any boots worn by DeSantis and other Trump lackeys

Like most people, I've been fired before. Sometimes for cause, sometimes for bullshit, but always by someone who was legitimate. If I was a general being fired by that fucking worm, I'd be really stabby over it.

I was just reading a different view of Vikings that many of these fascists like to identify with. Vikings were driven by greed first and foremost. Vikings didn’t want to work their farms, they had children and slaves to do this. Most enlightening is that Vikings were not brave warriors. They attacked, killed and enslaved monks, and other unarmed civilians and then stole what they could. They did decide to raid places that were protected but history writes they’d run away when they met up with well armed people. They sound like a bunch of stupid brutes, just like Trump and his ilk.

Vikings were actually rather progressive in the area of women's rights. Viking women enjoyed a degree of freedom and autonomy that was unusual for their time. While not fully equal to men, they possessed legal rights and social influence to a much higher degree than was found in Judeo-Christian society. Viking women could own property, initiate a divorce, and hold leadership positions. Heathens!!

"Remember the so-called β€œAlligator Alcatraz” prison camp for immigrants in the Everglades, with its cutesy fucking name and its cutesy fucking merchandise"

Not to worry people. As Alligator Alcatraz is getting shut down Florida is set to open "The Deport Depot," another camp in the American Gulag system being built out, complete with a cute name and merch -- until the state New GOP was forced to halt sales and take down the web page rather than have to fight a copywrite infringement lawsuit:

> "The Republican Party of Florida removed deportation-themed shirts, hats and other merchandise from its website that featured a logo similar to Home Depot's after the retailer raised objections.

Sales of the items, which had a "Deport Depot" logo and were still available for purchase as of Saturday afternoon, counted as political contributions, the Miami Herald reported. The merchandise and a post about it on X were removed hours later, the outlet reported." https://www.fox13news.com/news/florida-gop-pulls-immigration-merchandise-after-home-depot-pushback

(Google "deport depot" in images)

-----

"Expect some ICEstapo chode to preserve a couple of those Alligator Alcatraz road signs"

Like tourists, the ICEholes need souvenirs to help reminiscing about the good ol' days when Brown-skinned people could be rounded up and abused with full gubmint approval. Hell, the most abusive ones are probably on a short list for the Presidential Medal of Freedom from the Fulvous Fuckwad.

-----

"arguing that the camp was accelerating the destruction of fragile wetlands with potentially catastrophic effects for the ecosystem"

* Fuck the wetlands, sacrifices are demanded of all in order to rid the country of the scourge of the hoards of illegal aliens and who need to be warehoused prior to exportation.

* Ecosystem? Is that Libspeak for climate concerns? I thought we had put that shit behind us in our striding into the future, marching in lockstep behind the Halloween Orange Hemorrhoid.
