Disturbing ICE Raid in Massachusetts. Send this to your friends overseas to show them this is how we treat people in the US under Trump. Warn them not to come here if the can possibly stay away. These are Gestapo tactics an the world needs to know we are now imitating Germany in 1933.

I'm curious to know if Massachusetts is being singled out by the Trump regime because it is a purple-blue state, or if these gestapo-ice raids are happening in all 50 states?

unbelievable.

For those that want a trip in time, visit the USA in 2025, you will see Germany 1933 up front and personal!

Getting to this late (it's been a big day). Thank what ever God you believe in or don't that she is free! It was beyond disgusting that she was jailed in such inhumane conditions for so long. The foreign grad students that I work with are terrified that the slightest fuck up or traffic stop could land them in the same situation. All I can do is apologize for how shameful my country has become. Thanks for the good news, Dok

Ta, Dok. It's past time, but she's out.

In response, Trump, under advisement of Stephen Miller, now threatens to suspend Habeas Corpus since we are at war. With somebody or other.

Decency and decent people?

My own personal, very parochial comment on the article--I did not expect to see a whatever-you-do-on-bluesky from jhawk here at Wonkette. When meetings were still in person hereabouts, we used to hang out together in the back of hearing rooms and comment on the proceedings. Also, one time I was starting a knitting project and had not realized that the first thing I'd need to do was string some beads. He just happened to have wire and wire cutters with him, so we made a good enough beading needle for the purpose.

So now we are releasing cat people from detention? is this the kind of government Americans voted for?

It ain't gonna stop until these motherfuckers are killed

"M"'s avatar

They don't need to be killed. They need to be contained.

That 30% of the electorate are the descendants of the same 30% who were the FIRST Confederates from the Civil War.

If we had a federal domestic terrorist statute that *wasn't abused by White prosecutors* (a very big caveat), we'd all be home at nice dinners and at brunch instead of out protesting if MVP Harris was POTUS.

But we don't have any of that.

Question: If Stephen Miller dropped dead in the middle of a forest, and nobody was around to hear it, would it make a sound?

Answer: No.

Question: If Stephen Miller dropped dead in the middle of a forest, and people were around to hear it, would they give a shit?

Answer: No.

CambridgeKnitter's avatar

I totally disagree. If there were people around to hear it, the sound of their rejoicing would be heard miles away.

Suspending Habeas Corpus is a red line. Seriously like the "When in the course of human events" sort of rejection of unjust rule. Resist.

RRJKR's avatar

NOBODY seems to realize the gravity of that.

Trump will have (finally) succeeded in initiating a Civil War.

Boston Globe: "And then, Friday night, she walked out of the front gate of the South Louisiana ICE Processing Center, free to return to her life as a PhD candidate at Tufts while she fights to remain in the country. 'Thank you so much for being here,' Öztürk told a group of a dozen supporters who had waited for more than eight hours to see her walk free. Öztürk wore a light pink blouse, and had a constant, soft smile spread across her face. 'I really appreciate you being here, and thanks so much for all the support and love.'”

That’s Somerville, Massachusetts

The All American City 1972, 2009, and 2015 - how is it possible.

"M"'s avatar

Voter suppression. Cheating.

Corrupt cops.

I used to live there. It's a beautiful place, but only if you keep the sh*tty people out.

CambridgeKnitter's avatar

It's Somerville, and it's right next to Cambridge. Keeping those types out is not possible.

CambridgeKnitter's avatar

The Somerville cops didn't do it.

"M"'s avatar

Unlike the Worcester cops -- who lied to their consituents and said they would not cooperate with ICE trying to kidnap people --

and then went on ahead and did it anyway

"She also noted that a nurse at an ICE medical clinic mocked her hijab, telling her to “take that thing from my head” and removed it, failing to return it to her at the end of her visit."

Nurse Ratchet probably wearing a cross while being an asshole.

Brianna Amore's avatar

So they also violated her religious freedom. Because of course they did.

Bagels of Doom's avatar

Yep. It's entirely too predictable, isn't it?

Best Cross to wear? A Cross Tattoo! And, btw, the Bible prohibits marking the skin. Gonna be a backlog o' cases in Heaven and Hell.
