If the law had passed, it would have been interesting to see how they interpreted the term "social transitioning." That's awfully vague and could be applied to a huge number of situations, most having nothing to do with gender.

Ta, Crip Dyke. I have known trans people for most of my life. I'm a staunch and proud ally, and shall so remain. Trans rights are human rights, full stop.

Yup.......I live in Thailand. I know and associate with, many, many trans people. Just folks trying to get on with their best life.......

No "gender related care" like, I dunno, AFAB kids with hair in places they don't want hair? AMAB kids with breasts? Early puberty? Delayed puberty? Breast reduction or enhancement? Mental health care? Dysmenorrhea? This is all "gender related." These people are well past stupid.

In other news, the Cass Report seems to have emboldened right wing news outlets. Such as this hatchet job from Scotland's Sunday Post (owned by anti union conservative publishers DC Thomson).

Acres of space for gender critical organisations and Conservative politicians, the right to reply a single paragraph at the bottom.

All that's missing is a JK Rowling quote.

Once again it matters when Democrats are in power, even by thin circumstances. Back Laura Kelly up and get to the polls to at the very least bolster challengers to the unreconstructed Republicans in Kansas' state legislature.

Legislature is important too!

“There's this new requirement on the prescribing authority chart at work. "Gender affirming care." They gotta be effing kidding.”

Text 2:

“It'll say active/no active legislation and then what's required if there is active legislation. I hate republicans.”

Text 3:

“The states it's showing are the usual suspects. Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Oklahoma.

Since republicans all have medical degrees now, what will they do to fertility meds? There's quite the crossover with those.”

This fight is going to take all of us. ALL. OF. US. I’m obnoxious with how often I call and email my representatives in both state and federal government about gender equality. Trans-equality is gender equality. Don’t let anyone try to tell you otherwise. The attacks on transgender people are based in misogyny. This is a feminist issue. We need to fight for bodily autonomy and medical privacy across the board.

There are two biological sexes. That is well established and there is not much room for debate. yes, there are some anomalous configurations of X & Y, but they are relatively rare and do not contribute greatly to the issue at hand. Gender is an altogether different matter. Loosely defined it is a set of behaviors which society has deemed appropriate to correspond to an individual's biological sex. Being a purely social construct, it is determined solely by a consensus of opinion. it is a trait peculiar to humans, and there can be as many genders or variations thereof that a culture may find appropriate.

Gender identity is an individual choice. Moreover, I see no reason why people should be forced to undergo , costly, painful, and potentially hazardous medical treatment simply to act or dress in a manner which makes them feel comfortable or to be accepted for what they truly are by society. I feel that everyone has both male and female components to their personality and society should permit you to express that without recourse, and without concern for a person's outward physical appearance./

>gender identity is an individual choice

Gender roles, all the cultural ideas about what men and women do, are choices.

It sure looks like gender identity is inbuilt, fixed, and strong. A tragic illustration, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Reimer

If it were a choice, trans people could simply their lives immensely.

>Moreover, I see no reason why people should be forced to undergo , costly, painful, and potentially hazardous medical treatment simply to act or dress in a manner which makes them feel comfortable or to be accepted for what they truly are by society.

Nobody is being "forced", unless you mean intersex babies who have had knives taken to their genitals to "correct" them.

It feels comforting to some to draw very clear lines so as to be able to say "on this side exists only this, and on the other side must exist just that." The reductionist idea that X and Y genes are the only things that determine how we understand our biological sex ignores the many diverse expressions all our other genes contribute to defining our sex. And sexes that aren't 100% male or female (whatever that really means) in humans aren't all some kind of bizarre one-off that you'll only find in some Ripley's Believe It Or Not Freakshow. Chances are better than good that you have already come in social contact with a person whose sex, not gender-- which is a different discussion, is less solidly in one camp or the other.

To say that sex is somehow a binary absolute nature invented before humans invented nature ignores the morphological and physiological diversity of human sexual expression. Science also has had zero problem recognizing three and even seven different sexes in non-human species, so what's the problem with accepting that human sexes may exist on more of a spectrum than has previously been understood?

"Biology is messy", says an activist to summarize the science.

Just one thing to shake up a mind is to look at clinical pictures of XY people with androgen insensitivity syndrome.

That activist, herself, had congenital adrenal hyperplasia, and her hyperactive adrenals produced so much testosterone that they reconfigured her body to the point that the delivery room doctor checked Male.

"Two sexes" is one of those things like "the Earth is a sphere", often a useful approximation but often inadequate.

I separate biological sex from gender. You may indeed be biologically male yet be feminine in gender, and visa versa.

Most of what I said is fact. Gender is a complex thing Actually a state of being, My only stated belief is that both racial and gender identity are outmoded, useless and constrictive social constructs which should be tossed onto the trash heap of history. In reality, both are designed primarily to subjugate the individual. To make some people lesser or greater for no other reason than melanin contemn of the skin, texture of hair, or genital configuration.
