Kansas Republicans Very Upset Black Lady Rep Called Them Big Dumb Racists
Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback and his cretinous, thumb-sucking lackeys in the state capitol have been working overtime the past few years to find the perfect balance between bankrupting the state with tax cuts and fucking poor people over. It's hard work, but somebody has to do it! State lawmakers managed to barely squeak the state's budget into the black for the 2015 fiscal year, but the 2016 fiscal year starts in July, and surprise, the state's still pretty bankrupt. So NOW can we raise taxes on the rich? Ha ha, you are an idiot and dumb. It's time to make education cuts!
This is not sitting well with Democratic African-American state Rep. Valdenia Winn, who tried in March to helpfully point out that a bill to raise tuition for children of undocumented immigrants -- because we should clearly punish them for their parents' actions -- is kind of racist and all kinds of fucked up, and also, so are some of the legislators supporting it. The bill failed, but Winn is facing possible reprimand, sanctions, or even expulsion, because she hurt those lawmakers' delicate feelings. Here's what she said, reproduced in full because it is GLORIOUS:
"I have dreaded this day because this is a racist, sexist, fear-mongering bill that I would like first to apologize to the progressively-minded people of Kansas who are appalled that we are turning back the hands of time...um...regarding to, and I am going to use strong language, Jim Crow tactics, and once again making Kansas a laughingstock."
She continued: "I want to apologize to the students and their parents whose lives are being hijacked by the racist bigots who support this bill because this bill is not an act of" ...
At that point, Rep. John Barker, R-Abilene, interrupted to object, saying: "She just referred to this committee as racist."
"I said supporters," Winn replied. "I am not saying anything, but you know what, you can do anything you want, but I am going to say what I have to say because if the shoe fits, if the shoe fits, it fits. But this is an example of institutional racism, not individual racist, institutional racism because it deals with societal structural changes."

Hahaha, not ONLY are these fuckwits embarrassing Kansas in front of the nation AGAIN, but they are doing so by being racist racist racist racist RACIST. Also, racist. And if you don't like it, maybe you shouldn't be so racist. We like this Rep. Winn lady! She is very good at reverse racisting, which is a thing that totally exists, you betcha.
TPM reports that Winn will face a special committee hearing on July 26, to decide just how much Big Trouble she's in for stating something that's probably completely true. Nine lawmakers, all Republicans, signed on to the complaint alleging that Rep. Winn is a big mean poopyhead, and two of them were black, so maybe she IS a bona fide poopyhead, and this isn't a racial issue at all. Tell us how much she upset you, black Republican Rep. Tony Barton:
"The difference is this is slander," Barton told TPM. “She slandered me personally. I am a sponsor of the bill and slander is far different than just making a controversial statement, and I take that personally.”
He said he will leave it up to the committee as to whether to recommend a punishment, but said, "It really concerns me that this happened and if something isn’t done, I guarantee you something like this will happen in the future."
Winn's lawyer, Pedro Irigonegaray, who won't even get to represent her in the committee hearing, points out that Kansas lawmakers have said real fucked up things in the past without facing these sorts of consequences. Like this one time, Republican Rep. Virgil Peck said maybe illegal immigrants should be shot like "feral hogs." It's OK if you're a white Republican dude, we guess.
Good luck, Rep. Winn! We hope you don't get in too much trouble and are able to get right back to the important work of calling out these fuckers for their racism and general assholishness very soon.
Isn't it funny that Republicans constantly claim that Democrats are froufy, effete ladymen who are all about political correctness, but they are generally the ones screeching loud enough to be heard from space every time their fee-fees get hurt?
"If we don't suppress the exercise of free speech in conducting the public's business now, I guarantee you it will be exercised in the future," specified Gov. Brownshirt's contemptible lickspittle.
