Here for, “galactically corrupt dickweed”. All else pales in comparison.
Ken Paxton is a petty, mean, vindictive POS. Normally, I am here for the petty, but this guy…
I have long maintained that a state trying to enforce its hideously restrictive laws on, say, abortion by invoking their laws in another state and demanding their citizens be prosecuted for obtaining abortion services in a free state would be a clear violation of the Commerce Clause. And whaddaya know? Seattle hospital is in agreement.
Sounds like someone who doesn't know how to handle his feelings of inadequacy, terror, and impotence over his upcoming criminal trial is lashing out in the only way he knows how.
Why should a hospital have to waste its time trying to make a legal determination--what child, among the billions they have treated, is a resident of what jurisdiction? It's been a long time since law school, but I think that the proper response is "kiss my ruby red ass, Paxton."
Why does a place like Texas think they can dictate policy to the rest of America? They're going to deport migrants with zero due process. They're going to demand shit from other states. Seriously, get over yourselves.
Well see this is why I think about The Split so often. I think red states are absolutely thumbing their noses at the federal government (like refusing to comply with SCOTUS rulings, passing blatantly unconstitutional laws) so they have an excuse for becoming even more anti-democracy. Conservatives have done a marvelous job of both hobbling the fed's ability to help people and the people's trust in our systems. Talk about fucking treason. It makes my eyeballs boil with rage.
Where is that Cleveland Browns guy who wrote "some a$$hole is signing your name to stupid letters" when you need him??

Well, they do have the Dred Scott decision to fall back on.
When all else fails...
Dred Scott, arguably the worst SC decision of all time.
Current SCOTUS: "Hold my beer!"
The only reason Paxton gets to do this is because his rich senate buddies bailed him out.
I want them all gone.
I guarantee you aren't alone in that.

That trial's been upcoming for more Scaramuccis than I can calculate.
This is the price of the failure to remove Ken Paxton from office, he's free to do this sort of shit yet again.
“ the Texas AG told Seattle Children’s that failure to comply might result in misdemeanor criminal charges leading to $5,000 fines or a year in jail.”
What’s he going to do? Fly up to Seattle and put the entire hospital in jail?
What happened to republicans being the party of states’ rights and federalism. Stay in your lane, Ken.
(In my mind, I’m pronouncing “Ken” just like Scooter pronounces the name of his mother’s boyfriend)

Dear Mr Paxton,
Fuck off.
Yrs Truly & etc...
(in impeccable copperplate script)
Yours in service is the new bless his heart.
OMG, so messed up and cruel... what is wrong with Paxton?
Cornered, scared shitless, acting out.
Precisely!
Sadist acting as a politician.
Well said.
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck Ken Paxton.
And the short answer is...?
Heartily. Zestfully.
I would think Paxton's demands would run afoul of HIPAA, too, wouldn't it?! He ain't got no bidness knowing this stuff.
I am not a lawyer, nor even a paralegal, but how the fuck does Texas even have standing to demand medical records from another state?
And there's probably something in HIPAA that says, "no, you can't do that."
And then help catch runaway slaves and send them back down the river. uuuggghhh

O
Raise your hand if you think this guy's going to end up in prison eventually.
I fucking hope so.
Both hands up!
Honestly, I fear he'll never see a day inside the Graybar Hotel.
He should already be serving time but he's still running about fucking over as many people as he can so I dunno...
(keeps hands down) He's a Republican.....

Legalese can be dense and obtuse at times, but it is one of the most excellent languages for telling someone to go fuck themselves.
it can be, but my non-comment was a bit unimaginative. i'll try harder next time.

They must still think they're an independent country.
They like to play make believe.
