I didn’t vote for Clinton the first time because of his decision to refuse clemency for Ricky Ray Rector (didn’t vote for Bush neither). The whole thing was just so cynical and performative.
Moral consistency isn't a requirement on the right these days. Hell, it's not even a recommendation for the "pro-life" movement. I'm not sure whether the driving motivation for them is retribution on the hoors and force them back into the 50s, a desire to get more arrows for christ/domestic babies for 'merica, or a toxic combination of both.

Hanging was always a problem because it was so unpredictable. You could never guarantee that a person’s neck would break and if it didn’t, the victim dangled there until they suffocated, which took several minutes.
If you wanted a guaranteed quick death, nothing really beats the guillotine. Of course, it’s messy and gruesome.
because what true medical professional would go in there to find a vein to kill someone with? i wonder if the whole 'we can't find a vein' thing is someones way of saving lives? it would be nice to think so
