So........let me get this straight......the pup went from "untrainable" for pheasants but a "trained assassin" for chickens..........yeah, yeah, that's the ticket...........to quote 'The Holy Grail'........"SHE'S A WITCH!!!!!! BURN HER!!!!!!

Kristi’s only mistake was not hiring Katie Britt to explain in whispers, giggles and tears the tragic death of Cricket from the family doghouse, where the tough farming decisions are made.

I’ve noticed Cricket the dog gets more violent each time this story is told. Yes, the dog was “wild with excitement” about the bird hunt. It was a young, untrained dog. And why was Cricket permitted on a neighbor’s chicken farm? If the dog came to Noem with known aggression, it was on Noem to prevent the chicken incident. And our young dog bit my wife and I before we successfully trained him. But now the story is more colorful. Cricket went mad with murderous rage, mauling chickens with insane delight as she then turned her wild eyes, spinning like pinwheels, to Kristi. It was either Kristi or Cricket, and it was a fight to the death. The goat was an accessory, or an eyewitness who must be silenced.

"Let me spare you the awkwardness. I killed my wife. Not that it's any excuse. I had reason to believe she was cheating on me at the time with her chiropractor. Granted, I was abusing cocaine at the time. And alcohol. But I came home one day, shot her four times. Twice in the head. I killed her aunt, too. I didn't know she was there. And the mailman. At that point, I had to fully commit." ~ Sydney Pollack as Dr Warren Feldman, "The Sopranos."

I performed Noem's account for my classes at school (high school). The reaction of the road crew was one of the best bits, IMHO. The "But wait, there's more!" aspect is very effective, especially once the school bus shows up.

I despise Donald Trump for 973 reasons, and his pathetic strategy to call all unflattering news coverage “fake” is probably in the top 20. He knew how unpopular he was with mainstream media and the average, decent person. Only his frothing followers and opportunistic sycophants would say nice things about him. So he decided there was only 2 forms of journalism - favorable rightwing propaganda and unfavorable “fake” news. Now, it’s the go-to defense for all conservatives faced with accountability for their actions.

The “reporting” that uncovered Noem’s dog murder was done by Noem herself. She released an autobiography, “Can’t Is Not An Option.” Oh, wait, that’s another stupid title of a different conservative autobiography. Noem’s was “Can’t Go Back.” Or something similarly dumb. She described the shooting of the young pup who “went wild with excitement” when hunting birds. Now the story is “fake” because it’s shockingly unflattering. Maybe the whole fake news crap isn’t new, and conservative media has warned its audience to distrust anything they hear elsewhere. But it feels like an assault on journalism and even truth itself. The truth is whatever conservative mouthpieces say it is, and only at this moment. It’s tedious and dangerous.

My small dog has kind of proven to be untrainable. I had in him puppy classes as young as he was allowed. He didn’t do well. He is defiant and loud but i know him well. And i protect him. And i would never do a thing to hurt him. He is who he is, just as people are who they are. I won’t kill someone for being obnoxious. Killing an innocent dog is disgusting. Luckily Karma will prevail :)

A hunting dog IS a working dog. As is a herding dog. Or a ratter.

It just means the breed is high energy, and frequently highly intelligent. A dog that needs a good foundation of training and a human who is patient.

We have a Border collie/Blue heeler mix. Mensa dog, I tell ya. Cute as hell but smarter than Noem AND her 5th grader combined. He's snoozing right now but he has a giant vocabulary and does a pretty good job of keeping all critters out of the yard except the neighbor cat. He loves her and wants to be friends but she is still not sure about him.

Indeed. Even dogs with troubling behaviors can often learn and change. We had a different breed, a golden retriever, who exhibited alarmingly aggressive behavior as a puppy around food. He was a rescue, and his mother and siblings were starving. So he was food-guarding. We tried 2-3 different trainers, one who was a police dog trainer who jerked his collar and picked the dog up by the neck if he behaved aggressively. It was horrible to watch and my wife and I stopped using him. It seemed like trying to show the puppy “who was boss” wasn’t working. We enrolled him in obedience school, and eventually (incredibly) therapy-dog school. By the age of 2, he was no longer food-anxious, and had passed his therapy dog training and certification. That training included “leave it” commands when treats were placed near him, and other commands about waiting until he was allowed to accept a treat. He got it. He learned to wait, be patient, and be rewarded. He served as a volunteer therapy dog at a hospital for a few years before he went blind, a progressive condition that possibly was due to lack of nutrition as a newborn puppy. He’s retired now, gentle as ever, and 10 years old. Our toddler climbed all over him and he barely even noticed, always tolerant. He’s getting slow, and one day he will be gone and it will break my wife’s heart. We nearly gave up on him a couple times at the beginning, but he overcame a rough start to shine.

While I'm a cat person...from a baby...I like dogs, especially large dogs.

Malamute's are an excellent fit for my personality and state of mind, ie huskies are beautiful...but hyper.

I've had other dogs with different partners, though I had no say in their upbringing...

My dog, who I got at 8 weeks, was extremely well trained. To the point of a trainer trying to get me to take her classes...had to admit my dog was better trained.

Read and follow some dog training books, go to classes, use common sense...

It's not rocket science...and why your reaction is to kill an animal...vs more time training it

Might as well shoot your children...they have their own minds, wants and responses.

Step out of those narrow parameters, that you set...

Game over...sad.
