US cops have been out of control since their beginnings as slave patrols. They seemed to become a little better in the 70s due to public outcry, but since the 80s have become steadily worse.

A nation in decline. These images and videos of police violently attacking anyone, indiscriminately, as if they have lost or been relieved of any restraint or reason. They seem angry and irrational. Angry at immigrants, angry at protestors, angry at journalists, angry at women, angry at having to wear riot gear and distinguish who not to hurt, if anyone.

Other countries where democracy failed or hasn’t succeeded yet, that’s where this happens. Not here.

I’m selfishly grateful I won’t be in the United States for Trump’s Big Beautiful Bouncy Birthday Boy Military dictatorship parade. What an absolute disgrace at any point in time, but this week?

Ta, Robyn. I'm very upset about this. I'm also upset because I lost my phone while getting out of the car. I've locked it and put a message on the screen with my work phone. I used "find my iPhone" and it's in Chinatown. I know, I know, it's not important in the long run; just a phone. There was a woman who was sitting with a bunch of packages right in front of the car; she said some tall guy with a bag took it and left.

At least no one shot me with rubber bullets. Every time I read about these "non-lethal" shootings, I think of Linda Tirado (Killer Martinis) who was disabled by being shot in the eye and never recovered.

Honestly not a big fan of freeway blockages, whether done by Chris Christie or others. People are taking their kids to the doctor, trying to get home or to work, etc. That said, only in this fucking country would you address the issue by trampling on people. **ducks**

I. Cannot. EVEN. So, as I told/yelled at Himself last night when he was doing his latest Doom, Gloom, Death, And Destruction(tm) venting: JESUS F CHRIST< everything we all did from the early sixties to the mid-eighties is ALL to do over again? FUCK THEM ALL!"

Every generation or two, we're gonna have to go thru variations on this theme?

Virgie's out. Had an anxiety/P.A.T. attack that was so severe, really should have gone to the hospital.last night Didn't.

But I'm offline for the most part. And PISSED AS HELL OMG

Unfortunately, I am in no way surprised by LAPD doing this. They've had a pretty bad reputation for...pretty much forever?

I'm depending on comedy blogs and late-night TV hosts to get an accurate interpretation of the news.

That, in and of itself, deeply disturbs me.

The dark humor side of me pictures every testosterone-deficient male in Trump's orbit rubbing their hands and imitating Francis from "Stripes" - "All I know is now I finally get to kill someone".

NOTE: Francis never did get to kill anyone.

The LAPD has always been a shit department. Nothing has changed in decades despite the propaganda.

Trump always plays the victim card. In that sense, LAPD is emulating Daddy. You suck up to power--for what? A pat on the head? The aborting of some future investigation into police corruption? The chief would do well to remember that California remains a blue state: Trump will never repay this twisted loyalty.

Stephen Colbert highlighted a very cool LA guy being interviewed. In a response to a question about tear gas he said that it smelled like fascism. Right on, LA dude.

“Shutting down a freeway is an act of nonviolent civil disobedience that in no way necessitates a violent response from the police.”

Taking over a building, shutting down a freeway, blocking an intersection, etc. without permits will prompt a response from law enforcement.

Seems for a long time mass protests are about building public sympathy for a cause with people who otherwise would not be moved via mass media coverage.

I don’t know is shutting down traffic is effective at getting positive coverage. I don’t think there’s a perfect way to do this.

Remember when Colin Kapernick took a knee?

It was to protest police behavior like this
