There’s a concept in governmental law (I’m not a lawyer and I don’t know the terminology), where it’s easier to give/grant something than to takeaway/prohibit something. A monarch can grant or take everything. Everything is owned by that authority, including people. Yet, we speak in terms of ‘granting’ people rights.
