Oh boy, here we go! This week may have started out all "slow-newsy-snoozey" but never fear, wonketteers! The fabulous ruby-slippered Pope's retirement has become embroiled in ascandaldescribed with words like "seething hotbed of intrigue and infighting."
This is why I am watching Georg Glaswein,* Ratzo&#039;s boytoy and the classic Vatican Eminence <strike>Pink</strike> Grise, to see if Peter Turkson is his new BFF. If it&#039;s him or some Brazilian or Filippino jamoke, that&#039;s where I&#039;m putting my precious Intrade dollars.
Seriously, though (sort of), I bet we&#039;re about to see our first blah pope--Turkson is at 25% to Any Italian at 34% on Intrade. Which in a perverse way would be one more amazing thing to credit Obama for. I&#039;m beginning to wonder if maybe he&#039;s earning that Nobel Prize after all. Well, the being blah thing plus scaring Jim DeMint right out of the Senate. (Oh wait, same thing.)
There&#039;s some irony that I, an open gay man, probably have lived a more celibate life than those closeted queens at the Vatican. There truly isn&#039;t a God. *weeps*
