It is VERY difficult to overcome brainwashing. All these preachers on TV and radio are professional brainwashers. All religion is brainwashing, and there is an element of Tribalism - as in WE have the truth, therefore we are better than those other groups. If people are not trained to be skeptical, to question authority figures, to think for themselves, they are very easy to brainwash.
