The vile anti-Semitism and threats against Jewish students or neighbor MUST stop. It an abomination for such heinous verbiage to be spoken in the United States of America and some of us simply will not stand quietly by and allow it to continue.
A lot of United Methodist congregations were ignoring the bans, and conservative congregations left the denomination over the lack of enforcement. So the vote was overwhelming, 692-51.
Btw, my denomination, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, struggled with this some 20-25 years ago. Eventually, we voted to ordain gay pastors and welcome same-sex marriages, and we survived. Nobody's church burst into flames.
Which makes the heaping praise rather baffling. Jen Psaki had an excellent rhetorical trick whenever she had to spin bullshit but make it sound like she was engaged, which was "I'm going to come back around to that...." and then filibuster on something else and pretend she answered the question.
KJP just looks and sounds like she hates every minute at the podium. She's actually quite bad at her job.
Gaza must be a frustrating and sensitive topic in the White House right now. What can she say, how much info do they pass on to the public of what might be happening behind the scenes, etc. The protests are there, also too.
Maybe if Marge had spent less time antagonizing almost everyone in Congress, and more time making friends, influencing people and figuring out how the legislative process works, she’d know something about her job.
Bring it on. Either she will display her impotence and tar Johnson as complicit with Democrats, or she'll succeed and fuck her caucus more than ever.
Which does raise the question of who is going to lead the House GOP next term. I don't think Johnson will get it again. But it's unclear who else wants it.
Oh they'd never oust him if it was a swing seat (they ousted Santos only because it looked like he'd lose the seat anyway). But getting that dickhead out of there would remove a persistent embarrassment and replace him with a solid GOP vote.
OT: I just noticed that Mount Charleston is still snow covered and it's May. the last few days have been overcast and the clouds probably dumped some too.
That is what is so frustrating. Trump is a paper tiger. All ANY media person has to do is ask the perfectly normal follow-up questions "How do you know that?"
Oh yeah, he totally has the mental acuity to handle the Situation Room, totally bigly, look out world leaders, the Stable Genius is back, camera man woman TV.
Couldn't tell you the call letters of any of the stations. I've just been flipping around the low end of dial in the car listening to really good jazz and international programming.
Fun fact--Biden has nothing to do with whether or not people are allowed to protest on campus. If he sent in the Marines or the FBI to break it up, that'd be one thing, but if it's state or local or university authorities shutting things down, that is not the president doing it.
He's also not helping by calling the campus protesters "antisemitic" with every public statement, nor is he putting pressure on Israel to stop their bloodthirsty campaign, which they've vowed to continue regardless of a ceasefire.
Has he called all the protesters antisemitic? Because what I read he correctly noted that some were--and yes, if you're harassing students just for being Jewish, guess what you're not "criticizing Israel" you're being antisemitic trash--but I do not recall him implying that they all were.
And BTW, if our side won't call out antisemites in our own midst, we don't have much leg to stand on when we correctly call out right wingers when they have antisemites proudly chanting at THEIR rallies. So Biden is correct in doing so.
Aside from that, I don't see him impugning the protests themselves, if anything he seems to be hearing them.
I mean, Netanyahu is definitely going to listen to Biden and stop the killing, even though it might help Biden get re-elected rather than the other guy who will give him carte blanche to pave all of Gaza, and knowing that if the war ever ends he's likely to be ousted by the Knesset and will then have to face the criminal charges that are awaiting him once he leaves office.
And we all know that foreign countries just love being told what to do by the U.S. in general, especially about matters of their own national security. I mean, every one of these deaths is totally on Biden!
I see, so your answer to accusations of complicity is "He's too weak to be complicit." Despite all the evidence to the contrary both during and before his administration.
Hey, while you're at it why not blame him for SCOTUS overturning Roe?
Presidents have a lot of powers, but they do not and should not have unlimited powers, and even in the area of foreign policy we do not control our allies. I'd like to see him put more pressure on Israel but I'm not unrealistic enough to think with "one neat trick" he can make Netanyahu do a 180. Especially when Netanyahu knows he has a lot more at stake personally than just his legacy.
With one neat trick, he can certainly absolve the US state of a lot of the direct involvement. See, everyone knows about the nature of the American empire. My country is a dutiful junior partner. Biden says "Jump", my PM says "How high?" Leftists want to see the empire dismantled, the right wants it exalted. But only centrists try to pretend the empire doesn't exist at all and these countries just acquiesce to American demands out of some Randian bargain where all the players have equal power in the relationship. Bibi is spitting in your President's face over and over again and all the ire you have is for those pointing out that he can do more than just be the Israeli's spittoon.
So forgive me if I don't think you're really invested in Biden changing course. You'd be behaving very differently if that were the case.
The vile anti-Semitism and threats against Jewish students or neighbor MUST stop. It an abomination for such heinous verbiage to be spoken in the United States of America and some of us simply will not stand quietly by and allow it to continue.
Attempting to protect two civilian populations from violent attack or dying from starvation is not "trying to have it both ways", FFS.
Some people simply do NOT comprehend human empathy.
Make it so, Uncle Joe!

The Episcopalians went through this twenty years ago and we are still here.
“But that’s against freedom of religion!”
"Well, MY religion, at least."
A lot of United Methodist congregations were ignoring the bans, and conservative congregations left the denomination over the lack of enforcement. So the vote was overwhelming, 692-51.

ELCA was progressive before it was cool.
But...but...but Republicans ASSURED us that legalizing gay marriage would be the END O' THE WORLD!!1!
I always found it interesting that Jeff Sessions is a United Methodist.
Maybe it’s because I only see clips of her being asked about That but Ms. Jean-Pierre always looks like she’s not enjoying her work.
If you had to deal with Peter Doocey daily you'd look like that, also too.
It's not just Doocey, she looks at anybody mentioning Gaza with equal contempt. Psaki also handled Doocey much better.
Gaza must be a frustrating and sensitive topic in the White House right now. What can she say, how much info do they pass on to the public of what might be happening behind the scenes, etc. The protests are there, also too.
MTG is going to bring the motion to vacate to the floor anyway. Putin must be threatening to give her a bad performance review.

Maybe if Marge had spent less time antagonizing almost everyone in Congress, and more time making friends, influencing people and figuring out how the legislative process works, she’d know something about her job.
I'd like to bring a motion to vacate her seat.
Putin doesn't give bad performance reviews. What he gives you are faulty windows or polonium-laced tea.
That’s a very bad performance review
He's branching out. He's also handing out live grenades on airplanes.
Well it wasn't like Boeing built the plane Prigozhin was flying on so he had to improvise there
It'd take one fuck of a lot of crazy to convince the troglodytes in that district not to send her back, but goddamnit, she keeps trying.
They’ll be in the minority then, so who cares? Anyone can lead a group of impotent bomb-throwing screech baboons.
But she might have a little, and do mean little, Gaetz in the tank.
At some point he'll be more trouble to his caucus than he's worth, and the ethics complaint will give them cause to oust him.
GeeOhPee cares about ethics?
/ faints
I don't know what he did, but the GOP turned on Madison Cawthorne with amazing speed*. They can turn on MTG too.
*I can only assume there really are coke parties.
That would be their cover story as they could give a flip as you observe. He's just a self-serving asshat that does far more damage than he is worth.
Our mountains just got a weak snow shower, but our base is about 50% of what it should be. Likely a lot of forest fires and smokey summer.
It's going to be another scorching, smoky summer in the PNW.
dirty black summer...ugh!
Just don’t send it our way this year, please.
I'll do my level best...
ugh! we're on our way to triple digits but that's just par for the course.

If you live in a state where abortion is banned— YOU need to talk to the people in your community about what the laws actually are.
Immediately. People on social media are not reflective of real life and we keep seeing indicators that PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW WHAT BANS ARE IN PLACE.

And Bush never claimed Saddam did 9/11, he just mentioned them in the same sentence every time he spoke on the subject.
"We see you, we hear you" doesn't exactly fly when the full force of the militarized police are coming down on your head.
Yes, but Biden can just single handedly not send aid to Israel and fly to Israel and tell everyone to stop the malarky
