American volunteer pilots in Polish Migs given to the Ukraine would differ how, exactly? It wouldn't. The Lafayette and Chenault's crew were exactly that. US volunteers flew in the RAF and with the Canadians too pre-1942.

Now, the WASPs were different. They were women. They ferried unarmed aircraft. And treated like shit.

May as well, they don't have enough pilots trained to fly them, and fighter jocks don't normally hire out as mercenaries.

The message has to be simple enough to put in a sound bite, of course. I'm absolutely appalled how many people are utterly unable to see through the propaganda. Of course the Russians (and before them the Soviets) have always sucked at propaganda, a Soviet general told writer Farley Mowat, "The difference between American propaganda and Soviet propaganda is that no one believes ours."I suppose it helps that Zelenskyy founded the largest media company in Ukraine and has contracted with a couple of Madison Avenue companies.

Ukraine doesn't have enough trained pilots to fly them, I suspect they want American or other NATO force pilots. That way when one is shot down or crashes they can start WWIII.

Actually, the reason why they wanted Poland’s old MiGs was because Ukrainian pilots were already trained in how to fly them.

The no-fly zone is a red herring to get the US military personnel involved. Refugees are not being targeted, people are still leaving the country on the frelling TRAINS (in fact that's how the majority have left). One person with a backpack of thermate could shut that down, but they haven't.

Most of their pilots already have planes to fly, they were second in per-capita military spending in Europe (after Greece for some reason). I personally think the no-fly zone is a red herring to get NATO pilots into the war zone where they can get shot at. As of a couple of days ago refugees were still leaving the country on trains, which means that they're not being targeted (railroads are easy to shut down.)

American pilots DO NOT FLY MiGs(unless they have already been trained as an Adversary training pilot, and even they fly mostly US aircraft). You do know what that is, right? You DO know what the USAF and Navy pilots go though, right (hint- the movie Top Gun is NOT a source). If you had a clue, you would know that it would takes months of training to transition from any American aircraft to a Soviet aircraft. It's not like driving a Ford then getting into a BMW. That means that it would do absolutely zero good in the near term. Months from now, when they are trained, the situation will be very different. Pres. Z needs the MiGs for HIS pilots as replacements for his losses, not for American volunteers. JGDC!The Layfette Escadrille flew for the French starting in the spring of 1916, then transitioned to the US once the USA joined the war in 1917. The Flying Tigers flew in China as mercs, then most went into the 14th Air Force after the USA joined the war. The Eagle Squadron flew for the RAF, and, again, most joined the USAF after the USA joined the war. Notice the end result for those organizations? Former US pilots also helped form the Israeli AF. None of those situations is close to todays situation for many reasons a rational & knowledgeable individual can easily discern. And WASPS have what to do with this conversation, other than a non sequitur?

It's my fault. When someone mentions an historical event, I get tingly in my swimsuit area and forget that 97.5% of you don't have a degree in History, and 99+% don't have advanced degrees, so I sometimes think that you non-historians might have a clue, but most of you really don't.

What sane man would attack a neighbor and risk WWIII? Also, it has been reported that he has Parkinson's disease.

I'm a retired USAF Lt Col, Flew F-llls in the first Gulf War and deployed to Bosnia once before peace broke out and again with NATO's SFOR. As for study, Air War College and OJT. I was also chief of plans as a DoD civilian for Third Air Force, which planned and directed the initial assault on Afghanistan and the next year on Iraq.
