I don't know how many others were throwing things at the radio like I was (mentally), per this interview on NPR Morning Edition, with Wayne State undergrads:

I am so glad you mentioned that. They all sounded like they thought of themselves as VERY smart, but are sadly misinformed and/or out of touch. I hated listening to them but it was also disconcerting. I hope they don't represent the majority of voters their age. Does not bode well for the general election!!!

Yes, they were pretty water-headed. I get they are impatient to see good things happen. They have no understanding how any of this works.

I do hope if you're casting all that juju into the ether just to be witty or for whatever reason -- it's nobody's given right now that the Orange Demagogue is going to win the WH when he shouldn't be the nominee or if the current Dem majority will surrender the majority to the cheating Republicans if all people who believe in democracy aren't so beaten & bludgeoned into listless hopelessness that they don't vote --

I sincerely hope you're giving equal airtime to people giving us clear instructions on how to be better at voting and other bedrock tenets of being a citizen

I wish people would stop prefacing their reporting with "Republican says".

It's literally always lies, and should be identified as such so it can be discredited as it's warranted.

They do it in the television reporting as well. It's immensely frustrating.

Nobody EVER leads with "The President said" or "the Vice President said" or "the Senate Democratic majority said'.

People REALLY need to start leading with reporting what the people who are at least TRYING to save democracy are saying.

Then treasonous, pro-autocratic Republican lies can be put in the proper context.

Well if Ben Gvir gets his way, and Joe Brandon is replaced with someone who will give zero shits about the Palestinians, he really should devote a park or something to Michigan Arab Americans who really would have made the ethnic cleansing possible.

I fully get it’s possible to be deeply pissed off with how the administration has handled Israel. It’s a horrible situation, I don’t necessarily agreee with the sentiment, at the same time I wouldn’t give Joe Biden his highest marks on that issue specifically.

That being said, this idea of “taking your medicine for four years” is just completely and utterly ridiculous and should be rejected by all serious people. Aside from the incalculable and likely permanent damage he can do to the lives of marginalized people and American institutions if given another term: there’s no guarantee that it will even have the effect of turning more people to the Democratic side.

The least qualified man to ever hold office was given four full years of a presidency and it was a complete and utter disaster and 70 million people voted for him in 2020. If given another term in office there’s no guarantee voting will still be a thing in 2028. There’s currently a well funded effort by actual Nazis to stop it!

Which is why I really don’t think most people push come to shove will actually make that choice in November

I certainly fucking hope not.

You guys are really not handling the whole "uncommitted" thing very well.

Expand full comment

I know the media is hysterical.

A huge campaign to reach ... historic norms in Michigan. Hard LOL.

Obama had like 11% uncommitted in 2012.

When there was everything on the Dem menu in 2020 but lunch meats, there were like 20k uncommitted.

It is a nothing-burger. A months-long campaign to gat something like what half Bloomberg got after he suspended his campaign.

Expand full comment

I'm talking about November, chief. That's when the election between Biden and Trump is going to happen in this country.

Expand full comment

That's 8 months away. Ben Gvir won't be in government by then. Should be in a cage under The Hague by then.

President Biden will have made a deal with the Socialists by then. As he and Obama did in 2008 and 2012. As he did in 2020.

Biden doesn't have silly people like Robbie Mook, Donna Brazile or Bob Frum running his campaign. Biden understands that the Democrats win when they make coalition with Socialists, and lose when they don't.

Primaries are the right time to exert pressure on candidates. The General Election is, and will be, different. Biden knows this, and so do the Socialists.

They're MAGAs. Any good faith person concerned about Palestinians would be unhappy with what is going on, but would recognize that (1) Biden actually hasn't provided any additional aid to Israel since 10/7, you might have noticed Congress still hasn't approved aid, (2) Biden's policy toward Israel is no different than standard U.S. policy since 1967, (3) Biden has been pushing for a ceasefire, but has little leverage with Netanyahu, so it's not like a switch can be flipped, and (4) Trump and Republicans are officially on "Team kill 'em all". A good faith person who cares about Palestinians would push for Congress to condition further aid on a ceasefire, but still vote for Biden as better than the horrifying alternative.

Anyone who doesn't vote for Biden clearly is fine with dead Palestinians, full fucking stop.

So, Biden literally has done nothing to "assist" this "genocide"--and no, UN resolutions don't count, if you think a UN condemnation is going to get Bibi to say "pull back the tanks, boys" then I have a bridge to sell you--but suddenly we all have to defenestrate the one guy standing between Trump and the White House, and I'm supposed to believe THAT is all on the up-and-up? Sorry, I call bullshit.

Mind you, I'm all for a ceasefire, and believe a lot of people are sincere about it. But this "attack Biden" contingent smells of MAGA and their cats paws.

I'll tell you what a UN resolution would do: it would signal the countries that follow America's foreign policy lead to reverse course on *their* support for this ethnic cleansing campaign. Such as, say, *my* country.
