I would note that Kevin McCarthy will certainly spend the afterlife in hell, but he's already spending his actual life in Bakersfield so who knows if they'll be any difference.
They had their chance to be rid of him and by now would be coalescing around a candidate who could appeal to more than 47% of voters, and not have to spend the rest of their careers feeling humiliated and gross by sucking up to a man like that.
