Yeah Liz, anyways... so who are you voting for in the election?

What I would have liked to have heard Chaney answer is this question: "Given the existence of Republicans like Ron DeSantis and Greg Abbott, what makes you feel that even if Trump is defeated at the ballot box in this election cycle, that the next Republican president won't try to seize power in the same way?"

I agree completely. Tramp groomed the whole party to be lying fascists, and they need to get stomped at the ballot box until another party replaces them.

If your insurrection lasts more than three hours, see your doctor, a psychiatrist, and an attorney.

“Donald Trump’s attorney Wednesday tried to argue the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol didn’t constitute an insurrection because it was only three hours long, then quickly admitted his definition was made up, new courtroom footage shows.”

Voters will pay attention when the feckless Corporate Media MAKES them pay attention. Fortunately the scales are ever so slowly starting to fall from their eyes. At least WaPo and NYT are starting to get it, as does MSNBC no doubt, since the fascists have openly threatened arrest for journalists should they somehow worm their way into power again.

I do think there is one thing I think both Rachel and Liz have in common (besides their loathing for the previous occupant and his enablers) is they both seem to love and look up to their Dads.

Keep in mind Liz Cheney's dad can't step a toe in Switzerland because he is wanted for war crimes (that Iraq thing). Now Republicans think she is too liberal...

Terrifying segment on NPR today about how the Heritage Foundation and other crazy R fundraisers are arguing that there isn't enough power invested in the President and how they plan on changing that.

I kinda remember that the Dreamers are still in limbo because Obama tried to help them and the Rs argued that he was exceeding his powers as the President.

Brianna Amore's avatar

Yeah not like the Founding Fathers ever thought about THAT at all, huh? Fact is that they were VERY concerned about too much power falling into the hands of one man so what they're planning is PROFOUNDLY anti-American at its core.

They only believe in limiting presidential power when it’s used to HELP people. See Loans, Student. But hurting people and ruining their lives? A-okay. 👌

It has to be the right people's lives that are ruined--the ones they hate. If you ruin the lives of billionaires (besides George Soros or Oprah, of course) or white supremacist Christianist nationalists, they will not be okay with that At All.

I'd LOVE if OHJB loses in 2024, and then puts forth a bunch of fake electors, and has Kamala Harris declare him the winner. As long as the military was willing to back him up, we'd be fine.

The only problem is that Milley retired, and I don't know who the person who took his place is, and how he/she feels about Trump.

I heard her say she would do whatever is necessary to stop Trump from taking office, including voting for Biden. Obviously, she'd much rather vote for Nikki Haley, so Republicans can just get back to bankrupting America, and not trying to turn us into a Christian version of Iran.

I heard her say she was considering running as a 3rd party candidate, but she made it sound as if she was just trying to draw votes away from Trump. She said she'd do whatever was necessary to stop Trump.

Personally, I think that asshole is actually going to get re-elected (Trump, not Cheney).

As long as those policies stay within the boundaries of the Constitution she's fine with it. Her problem with Trump is his utter lack of respect for Constitutional norms.

I think that if no candidate gets the majority of the electoral college vote it gets thrown to the House. With each state getting only one vote, so all you need is a gerrymandered GOP majority in a sate for it to go to Trump. Even if Trump lost the popular vote and therefore the electors in that state. The whole electoral college set up is screwed up. But I'm afraid it will never be changed because no state with a lower population will want to give up that outsized power where each state gets two votes due to each state having just two senators, whether they are Democratic or Republican, and approve the constitutional amendment required to change it.
