On a brief plane trip last Friday, I spoke with a very interesting woman who told me Lyme Disease is becoming a major problem because of climate change. Many people have it and don't know it. Medical professionals in many parts of the country aren't familiar with it so they don't test for it. She said it is going to get much worse. And that's not good news on a Monday morning!

She's right in that the answer to global warming entails a carbon tax, smaller vehicles, mass transit, higher-density living, expensive air conditioning, and no more superslabs to Sprawltopia—in other words, the end of the world as she and most Republicans understand it.

No wonder they're so angry. The global-warming-is-a-myth myth is just their way of purveying the interests of Big Petro to the folks who live out there.
