Trump deserves this. When wingnuts and the media get bogged down in either confusion or denial about whether Trump’s actions on J6 amounted to insurrection, they need to back up and accept the absolute fact that Trump announced BEFORE the election that it was rigged (something he couldn’t foresee and which turned out to be false) and that if he lost, he would declare victory and proceed accordingly NO MATTER WHAT THE FACTS. The choice to deny America the right to choose their potus, and his collusion with attorneys and politicians and state elector pawns, was all part of his attempted coup. Turning his mob into a physical force to interfere with Congress was part of his failed coup. Trump refused to play by the 250 year old rules of our democracy and should be in prison, not running for a second term after violating the law and his oath. Aside from perhaps what Hitler did, can there be a greater breach of your duty as a leader than to turn nearly half your own country against the other and then announce that you are staying in power regardless of the voters’ choice?
Not American so this is a legit question: if he doesn’t make it into the primary and win it could he still in theory be their nominee? Do you HAVE to win the primary or is that like one of the unspoken rules that is actually a convention, like confirming your picks for Secretary of Whatever or not picking a military dude to be Secretary of Warring And Armies and Stuff or listening to the actual electors for the electoral college or whatever other “unspoken rules that are actually just conventions and not rules at all” that TFG just ignored because they were killjoys, man. Like, could he just run around threatening or bribing the votes people into nominating him even though he wasn’t on the ballot?
am american and no idea of actual facts but lots of opinions. i think he can still win the primary even if not on all 50 state ballots. there could also be a brokered R convention (there's been a lot of talk already of a brokered convention being one narrow path for the other loser R candidates to pursue if-for instance-he was convicted at the time of the convention). and he can still run in the general if not on all 50 state ballots, it'll just be harder to get 270 electoral votes.
it's a moot point though. SCOTUS is going to throw MN and CO's opinions out (i think they're going to split the Trump rulings and say he has to remain on the ballot but doesn't have unqualified, kingly immunity. i just hope they say he doesn't have unqualified kingly immunity in time for the Jack Smith DC trial).
I don’t doubt that they will toss it. He and his backers paid for that. I just wasn’t sure if there is a workaround if they don’t. I mean, beyond the obvious strongman technique of simply killing or threatening your nearest competitors until they drop out and toss you their votes.

As a general rule of thumb, I would say think of the worst possible outcome, and these hacks will somehow manage to come up with something even worse than that.
However, there's at least a chance that they'll paraphrase Mayor Quimby, and say, "If that's the way the winds are blowing, let no one say we don't also blow."
I have a question... if Maine and Colorado have both flushed Trump, does that mean the water supply is now contaminated with tiny particles of Trump along with all the dead babbies?
I realize that SCOTUS will probably rule Trump is eligible with a 6-3 vote, possibly on the grounds that they think he's a hoopy frood who really knows where his towel is, but I hope they do it sooner rather than later.
Firstly, it obviously is going to be an issue, so we might as well yank the Band-Aid off now.
More importantly, though, my paranoid side makes me think Republican election denial is part of a long-term strategy to convince voters that elections themselves can no longer be trusted, are thus invalid, and we might as well stop having them "until all these problems can be worked out" (that is, never). Electoral chaos over Trump's eligibility plays into that argument.
I am (very distantly) descended from British nobility, so I will do my duty to King and Country and serve as Royal Governor of the Restored Trans-Atlantic Colonies.
i’m concerned that the supremes could do the R’s a solid & decide against donald, not that i wouldn’t love to see him removed this way (seems like a no-brainer to me) but i’d hate to see the R carnage diverted towards a positive outcome … regardless of the fact that they so transparently have nothing that matters to run on …
Trump has been ruling up the MAGA crowd with lies and inflammatory comments for decades, especially since 2015. So I don't think yanking him off the ballot is going to get any more votes than his years of crap have already been delivered. The ones supporting him are locked in as are the people who think he's full of shit. There are few people really undecided, although you will see all sorts of comments on web sites saying "I was going to vote for Biden but after they took Trump off the ballot in Maine I changed my mind. Now it's RFK all the way!!!!"
I was going to write that I didn't think Maine was blue because of fucking Susan Collins and that bugfuck crazy multi-term right wing governor? Thankfully, before I wrote that (d'oh!, I think I just did), I did a google and, at least for POTUS, it is, indeed, quite blue.
I think in the case of that governor there was always more than one liberal running that split the vote which is why they adopted ranked choice. I have no idea why they keep Susan Collins.

Sure, Marvel Comics, you can have that for a Dr. Strange sequel.”
They would, but that’s already Daredevil’s origin, minus the blindness.
Trumpers are already motivated. Anger drives them. But they're already at peak angry. That is their constant state. The problem for trump is that being banned from ballots doesn't suddenly make an independent, moderate or Democrat suddenly decide to vote for him. Unless he can grow his base, which seems extremely unlikely, he's fucked. Unless he cheats.
Which is why everyone needs to stop worrying about what will inflame the MAGAt cult. They’re already prepared to crawl naked over broken glass and then pour salt and alcohol into their cuts to vote for Dear Leader.
It's pretty rich that Comer is on TV railing against these 14th amendment rulings as "election interference!!". Dude, your guy is neck deep in plots to override the will of the people and you're on a politically motivated witch hunt that you think gives you cover to say "Biden crime family" on TV in hopes that some dolts will buy your line of BS and vote "right".
The courts must not interfere with the will of the voters. It's up to the voters to decide.
Oh yeah?
Tell that to President Gore.
It's up to the voters to decide? Tell that to Donald Trump

I can't see why this is even debatable. How low we have sunk...
OH!! AND HERE COMES CALIFORNIA WITH A STEEL CHAIR!

You'll end up deciding to invite Charles the Third to do the job? Don't forget to pay 300 years worth of stamp duty on tea at the same time.
I am (very distantly) descended from British nobility, so I will do my duty to King and Country and serve as Royal Governor of the Restored Trans-Atlantic Colonies.
I suggestion? Sell Florida back to Spain.
I’d be willing to pay them to take if off our hands, especially if DeSantis is part of the deal.

No matters to run on? But what about the ongoing struggle against wokeness?
Ha ha, consider yourself pwned, liberal.

Still having fun watching MAGAs, Originalists and States Rights conservatives shitting roofing nails over this.
Sideways; they shouldn't be without a sensation.
“the Alito Court”
I see what you did there

TRUMP JERKED OFF BALLOT!

As someone commented on another page, "They may get madder, but they still only have one vote each."
Which is why everyone needs to stop worrying about what will inflame the MAGAt cult. They’re already prepared to crawl naked over broken glass and then pour salt and alcohol into their cuts to vote for Dear Leader.
We need to focus on motivating our voters.
And he already tried that. Which is why we're where we are with him.

Comer has the self-awareness of a broken garbage disposal.
