At the risk of being a bitter spoiler, social media following means nothing more thsn keyboard warriors hitting Like buttons. IF cheap and easy social media lives were any measure, Harris would be president-elect.

Dems do seem to like to kick themselves in the nuts . . .

Democrats have bought into the nonsensical myth that the country as a whole has moved to. the Right. The great majority of Americans are what I would call "moderate" with only a small minority being either extreme Right or hard Left. Playing into this myth, Democrats are trying to show that they have become more "Conservative" It's "stooopid"

It's all part and parcel of the fundamental dynamics that gave us HRC, Biden, and now Bi-Harris as presidential candidates after Obama rose to prominence on the strength of his youth and the message of "hope and change," and then defaulted back to leaning on entrenched party elders. It makes the Trumpers look positively juvenile by comparison and kneecaps even the best of the brilliant younger generation of party leaders like AOC and Hakeem Jeffries, who are forced to grin and bear it time after time as Pelosi revels in her refusal to loosen her iron grip.

Dunning-Kruger for Democrats. They're too stupid to know how stupid they are.

Yep, “weird” alright; a cynic might reasonably suspect they are *trying* to lose, and it’s hard to imagine how they could possibly fail any worse if they did.

It’s well past time we gave people like Pelosi and Schumer their gold watches and thanked them for their years of service. They fought the good fight the best way they knew how, but it’s time for a new generation to take the reins.

And yes I know Pelosi has stepped down from her official leadership position but it’s clear she still wields tremendous influence over the party caucus.

Time for some fresh blood.

She is turning Jeffries into an impotent punk.

Are you sure impotent punk with intraparty influence wasn't Jeffries's career goal all along?

Stay the course Dems! Why change horses now? Yeah, sure, you lost the presidency to trump twice, lost the House, lost the Senate, lost the Supreme Court, lost the lower courts, lost a lot of states, and lost ground with every demographic except those trying to quickly make their peace with God after a lifetime of selfishness. But I for one can't wait to see where their vision leads us next.

Besides, the establishment Dems are very good at fund-raising and AOC doesn't take money from big donors. Isn't that what it's really all about?

If centrists fought the right the way they fight the left, just imagine what this country could be!

Yeah, a beige, stagnant, world of perpetual status quo.

They have a lightning bolt of influence, leadership, and strategic talent in AOC, and they could not be clearer that that is not what they want.

The Dems are afraid of being called “communist.” That and–face it-a lot of them are just as greedy as the right and don’t want change anymore than the Republicans.

Expand full comment

Yes! They're not afraid of Republicans calling them communists, they're deathly afraid of being dismissed by the donor class.

Expand full comment

Republicans are going to call democrats communists even if they tack so far to the right they’d have to turn left to see where Glitch McConnell is.

They need to just stop worrying what the other party is going to call them and fight for what they believe in.

"They need to just stop worrying what the other party is going to call them and fight for what they believe in."

In an ideal world, yes. However, we just saw a moderate Democratic candidate get voted down because the uneducated blue collar shits we allow to vote thought she was a Marxist out to tax them into poverty in order to forcibly trans their filthy crotch spawn.

There's a reason the Republicans call their opponents "communists." It's because IT WORKS.

She lost that larger vote something like 131-84. So NEXT year isn't the year the Dems will find their asses with both hands. Maybe next time...

Of the past 5 presidents, 3 of them were born in the year 1946. That should not be right.

Expand full comment

It is wrong, the time for boomers to be President should be long past.

Although some of that weird 1946 cluster is just the effect of many WWII service members returning to America at the same time, and doing what humans do, god bless 'em.

"𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘺 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘶𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘋𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘴." This right here is EXACTLY why I don't like our two-party system and will be revoking my party membership with the quickness. Loyalty to incumbency vs. good f'ing ideas is no different from TFG expecting loyalty. Yes, seniority has its privileges in Washington, but it should not be the ONLY reason that the party backs a particular candidate for an office. Yet here we are.

If the Dem Party really wanted to prove to me that they want to preserve democracy, they would back ranked choice voting. Or some other system that would - YES! - allow for the election of 3rd party candidates, and - YES! - allow voting for someone other than the incumbent lest a truly execrable candidate of the other party get elected.

RCV was on the referendum ballots for several states last month.

They all lost.

Ha. Up here in Canuckistan, our fearless leader, son of PET himself, campaigned on introducing ranked-choice voting to the country.

Great we said. Will give us a more direct voice in local politics AND national.

That lasted until about 5 seconds after he won his first election and then it was never heard from again. Suddenly, since his party was the most popular, and therefore stood the most to lose from ranked choice voting allowing voters to drift away from the Liberals to "fringier" leftie parties like the NDP and the Greens ... he suddenly decided we didn't need it any more and please stop asking him about it kthxbye.

I've never forgiven him for that.

Now, the Conservaturds on the other hand are SO much worse that voting for them is a non-starter for about 8 different reasons. So that didn't happen either.

And so nothing changes...
