The is always someone out there is the huge right wing propaganda machine that will assume a position. There are hundreds, if not thousands of them vying to separate the cult from their money, and going extreme and absurd is a viable tactic, to them.

This Judge Ellis needs to GO. It's not just because every time I hear his name, he's apparently done some shit but because I'm hearing about him almost as much as the defendant and it always seems to be because Ellis said or did some shit. And then there is this little gem:

"He didn't know about the money you were stealing," Ellis said, "so he didn't do it that closely."

I thought examining the witnesses was the task of the lawyers trying the case. Is it appropriate for the judge to just but in like this? Because it seems fishier than anchovy sashimi to me.

Saying that you had a lying criminal working for you for years is not a good defense. The fish rots from the head. You can be sure that Manafort set a tone that made Gates think the being a scumbag was the way to be successful.

Some won't. Hannity will if that is where Trump goes.

Trump is stupid and will say anything because he doesn't know very much. The right wing media really did not pick up the Capone stance.

I expect them to try multiple angles if Manafort is convicted, but the innocent babe is unlikely to be one.

I have actually RT'd Kristol a time or two. Super fucking weird , but this is where we're at now.

Why not? Trump is already trying it. Just before the trial started he was Tweeting about how Manafort is a poor innocent little lamb who got caught up in the 17 Angry Dem lead Witch Hunt and how his life was being destroyed.

See the Tweet about Al Capone.

I have serious trouble accepting that they will go with the "innocent lives destroyed" defense if Manafort gets convicted. Naturally they will try something, but not that.

To be fair, none of the oligarchs are on trial here so mission accomplished?

Not prosecuting Nixon was the greatest mistakes ever made. Ford completely gave into the banality of evil on that one.

IMO Cheney is the High Lord Destroyer. He is like the devil character in Time Bandits. Pure Evil. The rest of them are minions and amateurs. He is a black hole and the whole of the GOP passed the event horizon ages ago and will never escape his gravity. This lot is the last of the sewage swirling down the drain before it implodes and disappears.

didn't he go isolationist when his son was killed in the great war?

For decades Social Security was the third rail for a reason. even the most conservative die hard Scrooge couldn't argue bankrupting the olds and stealing their retirement funds with a straight face. We had common boundaries that everyone agreed represented evil or at least bad manners. Unfortunately those norms only applied to WWC people. POC were not allowed to participate.
