Rubio is privately frustrated that Trump has effectively sidelined him. According to four prominent Republicans close to the White House, Rubio, who has been a Russia hawk and Ukraine supporter, has told people he is upset by his lack of foreign policy influence despite being, on paper at least, the administration’s top diplomat. One of the sources said they felt as though Rubio is often the last to know when foreign policy decisions are made in the White House. (vanity fair)

I just watched a video of Jeffery Sachs talking about all this. Look it up. Good, clear points were made for, wait for it, the US getting out of NATO. Not for the same reasons as T would want. I just typed a shitload about it to other friends, so I'll go make breakfast now. Here's a link:

How long does it take to hand over our critical intelligence and security information to Pootin? 1/2 a Scaramucci? This country is so fucked by all these criminal traitors we won’t even know how compromised we are for years.

If putin wants elections so bad he should pull his soldiers out of Ukraine, stop bombing them and return the stolen citizens.

But he already lost that way so he wont (unlike in Belarus).

"On one side, you have those who know Vladimir Putin is a threat but are trying not to piss off Trump. On the other side, you have Trump sycophants who will follow him off the Russian asset cliff."

* Mooseballs Mussolini has the New GOP by its tight and curlies. Those who are trying not to piss of the Fulvous Flatulence aren't worth the gunpowder needed to blow their noses. This demographic has the collective spine of a jellyfish, they are more concerned about being primaried out of office rather than doing what they were hired for in the first place: legislating for the benefit of their constituency and the country writ large. They are failing to realize the old axiom about strength in numbers:

> "We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately." Benjamin Franklin

It looks like this group has chosen to "all hang separately."

* The Cadmium Orange Cancer's sycophants, minions, toadies, apologists and turd polishers know which side their bread is buttered on, and until the MAGA (bowel) movement has been flushed down the toilet this group will "all hang together." (When the sun sets on the MAGAverse watch them all flee like rats on a sinking ship and proclaim that they were never really supporters of the Amber Ardipithecus ramidus.)

-----

"RUBIO: [W]hat Zelenskyy did unfortunately, is he found every opportunity to try to Ukraine-splain on every issue."

Ya see, that's the problem in a nutshell. Zelensky had the audacity to look at things from Ukraine's POV rather than from the POV of the MAGA oberster Fuhrer -- which is the only acceptable viewpoint. Zelensky should have not said anything and then gratefully eat the shit sandwich that he was going to be served for lunch.

-----

"You have the cancellation of elections […] political parties being silenced, or even criminalized or thrown in prison. […] You have total government control of the media […] issues that go against the values of democracy and freedom. ... But what are they actually really fighting for?"

* Zelensky did *not* cancel elections, the Ukrainian Constitution prohibits elections during times of martial law, and demands for elections are *not* coming from Ukrainians:

> "the chorus of voices calling for new elections in Ukraine is growing louder and louder. Curiously, however, these calls are not coming from the Ukrainians themselves, but from the Kremlin and the Trump White House." https://www.atlanticcouncil.org/blogs/ukrainealert/ukrainians-are-proudly-democratic-but-resoundingly-reject-wartime-elections/

-and-

"Whether objections to the postponement of Ukraine’s elections come from a place of hostility or sympathy, they fail to understand that voting during this war would be legally, practically, and institutionally impossible." https://foreignpolicy.com/2023/07/11/ukraine-democracy-wartime-elections-russia-zelensky/

* Banned/silenced political parties:

> ""The president of Ukraine has signed a law banning pro-Russia political parties! The law will come into force on the day following the day of its publication," Olha Sovgirya, a deputy from Zelenskiy’s ruling Servant of the People bloc, wrote on telegram on May 14.

The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, passed the bill on May 3, banning pro-Russian political parties that engage in anti-Ukrainian activities.

On March 20, On March 20, Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council suspended 11 pro-Russian political parties while martial law was in place in the country." https://www.rferl.org/a/ukraine-law-bans-pro-russia-parties-zelenskiy-signs/31849737.html

Please note that the ban came from the Ukrainian parliament, the suspension came from the National Security and Defense Council, and the ban expires when martial law ends. It's also interesting how much of a fuss is being created by the RINOs; sure, there are eleven banned political parties, but as of Jan 2020 there were *349 officially registered political parties* in Ukraine.

* Gabbard could not be more disingenuous when asking what the Ukrainians are "actually really fighting for?" The answer is out there for all to see: their country, their right to remain a sovereign nation, their democracy (a four letter word to the RINOs), their very freedoms, and they're fighting in self-defense -- not as an aggressor nation attacking another.

Ah, Marco Rubio. The man who once tried to be a principled statesman but became an emotional-support politician for Donald Trump’s latest geopolitical faceplants. Watching him attempt to defend Trump’s deeply humiliating behavior toward Zelenskyy is like watching someone mop up an oil spill with a paper towel. It’s just not going to work.

Let’s get this straight: The Trump administration is openly siding with Vladimir Putin. There’s no more winking, no more hedging, no more “he doesn’t really mean it.” Trump called Zelenskyy a “dictator,” while JD Vance stood there looking like a freshman intern who just realized his boss is under federal investigation. Rubio, meanwhile, is here to reassure us that Trump’s deference to an actual dictator, Putin, isn’t weakness. It’s strategy!

According to Rubio, naming Putin as the invader of Ukraine is mere “name-calling.” Ah yes! Because when someone breaks into your house, steals your furniture, and sets the place on fire, the real problem isn’t their actions. It’s your rude tone when you called them an “arsonist.”

But the best part? Rubio's new complaint is that Zelenskyy had the audacity to Ukraine-splain the war to Trump’s people. Imagine the nerve of the Ukrainian president, explaining the ongoing invasion of his country to people who don’t understand the difference between diplomacy and extortion. Maybe next, Joe Biden will have the gall to America-splain democracy to Congress. Or Anthony Fauci will science-splain infectious disease to Marjorie Taylor Greene. The horror!

And speaking of people who don’t need Russia-splained to them, we have Tulsi Gabbard. Trump’s newly minted Director of National Intelligence (because why not?) went on Fox News to do her best impression of a Kremlin press release. Instead of calling out Putin, she decided to question whether Ukraine is really fighting for democracy. Because, as we all know, the best way to determine whether an invaded country is worthy of defending itself is by nitpicking its internal politics while Russian missiles rain down.

This kind of intellectual sewage gets pumped into the news cycle every week. While it would be hilarious if it weren’t so dangerous, the reality is this: The Republican Party isn’t just cozying up to authoritarianism. They are actively trying to reshape American foreign policy around it!

So yeah. Zelenskyy dared to challenge the Vice President. He also dares to exist, which is clearly a problem for the people in the Oval Office. Meanwhile, Trump and his lackeys are out here trying to convince us that maybe, just maybe, Putin isn’t so bad after all.

If you’re feeling gaslit, you’re not alone. But at least we have one comfort! No matter how much these people humiliate themselves, there will always be another Sunday show where they come back and try again.
