I apologize for being "that guy," but it was an even better novel. HOWEVER, the movie was nothing short of amazing. Of course, that was made back when Kevin Spacey was a respected actor.
Are you… saying… you don’t think he did it, or that he’s too unappealing to have snagged a willing partner? It’s hard to tell from a single sentence on the internet.
His family is wealthy. He offered luxury tropical vacations, booze, drugs, ‘you’re *so* much more mature than the other girls!’ fancy clothes, tuition payments, ‘bring your bestie to keep you company,’ and cold, hard cash. Can be pretty persuasive to a 16- or 17-YO girl, especially the vulnerable types who are targeted by groomers.
Given that he actually grew as a person and came to regret who he had been, I think he didn't really deserve what happened to him. Was he perfect? Hell no. But Vincennes did end up being a decent person, even if he started out as a sleazebag.
