When I was much younger, the president was expected to take seriously his job of enhancing the welfare of the country. That included the "soft power" of doing good things for the rest of the world. Hence the Peace Corps, and USAID, and a buncha other things. Then along came Reagan (may his name be erased) and all that went out of the window. It has come to the point where the primary focus of the president is enriching himself and feeding his own ego, the USA and the rest of the world be damned. I, for one, consider anyone who tolerates this state of affairs, and, in particular, anyone who votes for this, to be morally bankrupt and not fit for human society (at least, not fit for mine).
