James Comer has been hanging his junk out all year trying to impress someone. No one is biting (no pun intended). MTG has been so non-plussed she carries around a laptop with pictures of Hunter's junk because... that's the stuff dreams are made of?

It's a pathetic clown orgy of losers with bad accents in bad costumes. And the people we're supposed to show a little more respect for lap it up.

The GOP will either implode in a massive fireball of ignorance and crassholery, or establish Our Own Private Idaho (aka Gilead). It's sad. But it might be also be amusing. I'm thankful for folks like the people at Wonkette who can see the humor in all this horseshit.

I am so jell of all the Wonketteers who can actually tell all those Fox News people apart so they can make fun of them. I've got a wicked, awful insult for Brian Kilmeade, but I don't know which one he is.

Same old same old. Remember when the Republicans' Great White Whale was "Hillary derpderpderp Benghazi herpaderp lesbian sexytimes blahblahblahblah" and one of the Congressional leadership let slip that it was all just to smear her in case she ran for President? Before that there was the Giant Inflated Nothingburger called Whitewater. These horrible oiks deserve no more benefit of the doubt than the nutters who tells every so often that the end of the world will be two weeks from next Wednesday, and their proof is a secret message they deciphered from the Bible. Each iteration of these Republican witch hunts is no more than another round of Calvinball, and should be dismissed right from the start.

Today, some yahoo named Mark or Mike or something Burchett, when asked on CNN about what they hoped to reveal that we don't already know, said something to the effect of "well, the Democrats did it twice so now it's our turn." Sadly, the anchor didn't say, oh you mean the inquiry into the attempted coup and the quid pro quo with an ally?

Same guy was also asked about the Cox abortion case in TX and of course, argle bargled his way through the answer. Apparently he's a doctor who can't respond to how he'd feel if the courts superseded his medical advice. Maybe his advice sucks. Who knows?

I watched the Mediaite clip. It was horrible. Some asshole claiming that polls show that 70% of Americans would not have voted for Joe Biden if they'd known what was on the laptop. Where'd they get that poll, out of their ass? Same guy claimed that they didn't have to connect Joe Biden to a crime because it is unethical. He did not say WHAT was unethical which seems like an important thing. Constantly referring to the Biden FAMILY. There were a lot of words, and it was all bullshit. Also, too, how stupid are these people and their viewers?

I actually went and watched the clip of Brian Kilmeade making weird faces. I don't understand something. They're talking about money being moved around between 2016 and 2020, when Biden was NOT in office, and yet they're going to impeach him for it? How does that even work?

the law doesn't even enter into it, except when they can hijack some of its machinery to discommode their enemies. It is as if the Federal government had been taken over by a particularly unruly troop of baboons who are disporting themselves in the capital, picking up and using as weapons the artifacts left behind by the vanquished civilization.

Impeachment is a political process. If there's a conviction the remedy is removal from office, not a criminal record in the legal sense. The standard of proof is whatever the "court" of the Senate says it is at the time.

Hippo Heaven's avatar

I understand that. But aren't they supposed to impeach him for crimes committed WHILE in office?

If they decide that past crimes render him unfit for present office, that is their apparent right, however silly that would seem in the current situation.

It would be a shame (and by "a shame" I mean "hilariously ironic") if this came back around to bite Trump in the ass should he be elected, as he could be immediately impeached for all the fraud and self-dealing and insurrection he did both in and out of office.

Hippo Heaven's avatar

I was just thinking the same thing. If you can impeach a president for everything he's done since the day he was born, Trump's life would be a cornucopia of opportunity for such.

The fact that Comer hasn’t found the corruption yet only proves how carefully and deviously mastermind Joe Biden hid it.

Something I never understood about the Republicans' relentless pursuit of the Clintons.

They knew Bill and Hillary were personally responsible for the deaths of a large number of people who'd crossed them in their lives. They knew that Bill and Hillary left absolutely no evidence whatsoever that could point to either of them or even conclusively determine that the death was the result of a crime. Not a one of them showed the slightest fear that they would suffer the same fate for their actions.

Are Republican investigators brave beyond the ken of mortal man or just stupid?

So Grandpa Joe loaned money to family to help them. He probably influenced them too, by being nice to them. How this means Joe is corrupt is less clear. I love how Comer can’t stop this humiliation, because Biden being “investigated” is the point. Comer must continue beating himself about the genitals with his banjo.
