Military/Biz Coup Strands Corrupt Thai Leader In New York!
While we want to make it very clear that "revoking the constitution and promising a swift return to democracy after political reforms" is the coup d'etat equivalent of "I swear to god I was wearing a condom," Thailand's remarkably bloodless coup will hopefully serve as an example of how to fix a sick government.
On public radio's Marketplace show Tuesday night, various Thai economic experts explained how the business interestsorchestrated (or at least encouraged) the soft military takeover while corrupt Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra was in New York wasting time at the UN. (Hillbillies supported Shinawatra, even after his political machine was found to be "tainted with corruption and cronyism." )
