Annnnd yet again, my state embarrasses the hell out of me. If you were to come here, look around, see what the state has to offer, and NOT TALK TO 60% OF THE PEOPLE, it's actually very nice. Fucktards.

They don’t call it “The Puke State” (and its inhabitants “Pukes”) for nothing.

What hypocrites! One of the noncommenters here has written extensively about Missouri's court system so I'm not at all surprised. Trans rights are human rights, and if the show me state wants to show us teen suicides, they won't care.

My triggered rant, 15 years ago, I personally investigated actual misuse of hormone blockers completely unrelated to transgender care that led to doctor losing his license. The wording of the law would specifically not cover the actual abuse.

“The Constitution does not prohibit legislatures from enacting stupid laws.”

That certainly describes what Republican legislators are doing around the country - the passage of laws that are not only stupid but obviously written from boilerplate provided by extremist organizations ( I'm thinking here of ALEC, which is still around, altho' they were once the subject of much loud controversy but are now flying under the radar )

If ALEC creates some stupid bill text, Republican legislators will still attempt to use that text and claim credit for it

There's already a huge influx of young, queer refugees from states south of Illinois into Chicago, and this is just going to make all of this worse.

This is what "protecting the youth" looks like when Nazis are doing it.

They generally are. But in the US? Apparently 'equality' is determined by geography, and unless all y'all work a miracle, I doubt it'll ever change. Your short period of sanity appears to be over for good.

OT: I’m so fucking done with our MSM. These people want to feign outrage at Biden pardoning his son after helping re-elect the 34 count convicted felon, adjudicated rapist who is filling his cabinet with ex convincts and sex offenders?

Joe Biden is too nice to do it but sometimes I wish he'd just do a "Fuck all y'all" for them covering for President Klan Robe and dumping on him and Kamala Harris.

"Wonkette confidently predicts that 50 years from now bans on trans healthcare will be widely and legally acknowledged to be equal protection violations."

This assumes, of course, that the US still exists fifty years from now and hasn't broken up into a loose federation of regional states controlled at a distance by oligarchs living in domed gated communities protected by private armies.

I'm not so sure. I really look at 2024 as the "last chance" election.

If we could have elected Harris and taken at least the House or Senate, there would be a chance to rebuild and move on. But now, we're going to be dealing with unfolding self-made economic and political crisis on a daily basis. And, to top it off, climate change will get worse.

I think all this may prove just too much for the system to self-correct.

Only really excellent systems can self correct major things. Most systems need the interaction of their interested parties. And while our interested parties often get it wrong, in the long run they more often get it right.
