To some extent this demonstrates why I have (tiny, barely perceptible, but present) hope that America won’t descend into a christofascist hellhole. There are lots of places Assmouth and his bitches would like to emulate, North Korea and Russia at the top of the list. But the difference is those countries have been oppressed since WAY before the Information Age. So the means of oppression are baked into their systems, and often the citizens don’t even know they are being quashed. There may be a small minority who have contact with the outside world, but they can be marginalized by controlling flow of information to the rest.

But ‘Murrica is nothing if not aware. True, many of us are aware of patently absurd shit, but a lot of us also know about how the world works, and have access to resources which can increase and support that knowledge. Even the Assmouth Cultists can find shit out, if they choose to, if they are suffering enough to twitch aside the blinders they put on voluntarily. While I’m sure the GOP will try, I don’t believe the genie of the internet can be put back into the bottle. It is very hard to fully oppress a society which has access to information. Because eventually they might choose to actually look at it, and use it.

🤞

If this doesn’t work, they will try something else, then something else. The Dobbs decision ensured that the fight for abortion rights will never end in this country.

At first I thought all it would take was a pretty white woman denied miscarriage care for a wanted but doomed pregnancy. Silly me. It doesn’t matter how many women die, and it never has. It doesn’t even matter if they are Republican Christian women with husbands and children. Women suffering and dying is not a problem for our overlords.

Thanks to the Oxford Comma Dilemma, I read that provision as one to "[a]llow abortions for... repeal Article I, Section 36." So if a woman goes to a provider and says "I want an abortion to repeal Article I, Section 36," the provider is required to give her one.

This is why rightwingers keep saying “we’re a republic, not a democracy.” Because republicans are supposed to make the decisions for the people and the people should just accept it.

Listen, you just can't expect the common people to understand what they are doing. What's next, expecting the proven rapist Trump to stop destroying important government programs and institutions?

His fellow oligarchs need their tax cuts!

I mean, how else will they fly their secretaries to Mexico for abortions if they have to pay taxes like a little person????

I don't think tax cuts would satisfy their appetites.

I suspect that they'll eliminate all taxes (for themselves) completely.

As we've seen, if they can think it up, they're gonna say that's how it is now..

The business owners in Texas must be starting to corner the judges on the golf course and reading them the riot act as their businesses take a beating. You know the guy, the one with the Mercedes that sometimes shows up at the job site to see how things are going while on his way to meet his girlfriend at the country club.

Where is the fucking line to stop being civil when they are literally KILLING PEOPLE with these decisions? How many are already dead because USAID programs have been cut off? How many women in this country since this started?

How far is too fucking far for the "nice, polite bystanders?"

We KNOW what it takes once this goes far enough (a world war and *millions* of lives lost).

I think a world or civil war is definitely what it will take. The MAGAts actively 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 a fascist dictatorship. Non-MAGAt conservatives are merely okay with a fascist dictatorship, and will continue to support it at least silently until they're in the crosshairs. We shouldn't consider them bystanders, and the legacy media collaborators who continue to sanewash the administration's bullshit are of a feather. And they're giving the bystanders excuses to keep standing by. We need to face the fact that it will take massive, daily life-ruining atrocities for rank and file Republicans to stop supporting fascists, and 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯 I don't think most of them would go to the lengths of voting for a Democrat.

Rightwing media in this country has portrayed liberals as pure evil for so long that I can't imagine 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 that will bring about a purge of Republicans from power. We might gain a few House or Senate seats every now and then, but the party isn't going away. I know a lot of people don't want to believe that such a large portion of our population is just irredeemably rotten, but I don't understand how else we can explain the last ten years. We no longer need to wonder how people let Russia and North Korea get to where they are.

Not on point, exactly, but I've made a decision. To start using a litterbox instead of a toilet for my excretory needs. Now, I don't want to really use a litterbox, it certainly won't be more convenient. But I know that the fact of my using a litterbox will drive some MAGA's to stroke level rage and sleeplessness. Even you all telling people you know some small dog on the internets who uses a litterbox, it will confirm and strengthen their fears and prejudices. So, here goes. Resistance.
