Pelosi's job is literally to herd the cats. When she starts kicking the cats instead and someone gets clawed, you don't blame the cat who got kicked. It's a damn difficult job, but it's one she asked for, and she knows the problems and patterns of "Dems in disarray" stories as well as anyone. While the media is the fucked up media, and they deserve criticism (and often even scorn) for a wide range of messed up behaviors, she's had individuals break ranks with a Dem-sponsored bill before. If she wants to start trash talking the progressive women of color for sins she would never, NEVER hold white men accountable, then the fact that women of color speak imperfectly when they speak up against that shit is not a reason to criticize the women of color.
Ayanna Pressley is blameless in this. This is all on Pelosi.
I'm not a US politics expert, I don't know who would do a better job than Pelosi and/or why. I'm not saying we should kick Pelosi to the curb or anything. But if she wants the job herding cats, then she gets the blame when the cats go wild. That's the gig.

Political operatives should never be quoted anonymously. They are not whistle blowers. News orgs should never be doing push polling like they're Frank Luntz either. If American political journalism would try some actual journalism sometime that would be great.
