Here in Hawaii, the president's visit was well received and greatly appreciated. From my perspective, as someone who works with news media on a regular basis, the coverage was uniformly positive. The president did and said exactly the right things, especially his comment that Lahaina would be rebuilt in the manner the residents wanted.
Biden was respectful of the Hawaiian culture and behaved admirably throughout his visit. My daughter commented that he looked much more fit and healthy than our governor and the FEMA administrator pictured with him in the NY Times photo of them walking the street in Lahaina.
It’s normal human behavior to want to stop and pet a dog. Which is exactly why republicans are baffled by it. Just look at how weirdos like Pudding Fingers, Fled Cruz; and the PAB fail at acting like normal humans. They don’t understand normal human behavior.
