Folks in North Carolina have a funny way of celebrating freedom this Fourth of July. While many folks around this great land are canceling fireworks displays because of freedom-loving sequestration, North Carolina legislators are working on a bill to give women the freedom to not worry about control of their bodies! Don’t worry your pink-shoe-wearing selves, little ladies, the menfolk of the GOP legislature will
Yeah this is some bullshit, the crap coming out of raleigh since the election has been pretty epic in its stupidity but this is possibly the worst so far.
I live in Winston-Salem personally, but I'm following this with an eye on possibly driving down there to join in the protest...assuming they don't find a way to slide it past us without warning again :(
A law that imposes the legislator’s religious beliefs on women embedded in an anti-Sharia bill has got to be a nominee for the Ironic Moment of the Year award.
Demoncrats stayed home in 2010 while Repubicans put winger honey pots on the ballot like "no Obamacare" and "no gun restrictions". Now we have gerrymandered districts that will take years to unravel (or re-gerrymander!). And all-abortion-all-the-time legislating.
I remember just a few short years ago where republican pundits were crowing about winning in the marketplace of ideas. Since when is needing to be sneaky little midnight shits considered winning?

She's pretty and all, but I can't help but remember she's the daughter of that uber- troglodyte Billy Ray Cyrus. You can take the mullet away from the child, but you can't take the child away from the mullet.
Silly Wonkette: Legal abortion is Sharia law. Haven't you noticed that the same people who advocate for women's rights are lobbying to institute the chadour?
Hahaha. That deserves recognition.
Was it NC or SC that legislated away ocean-level rising?
North Carolina.
You mean Issac Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics?
While his original "I, Robot" collection of short stories was great, it was far from being the origin of the concept in his writing.
I realize that was probably a joke but I'm too much of an Asimov fan to just let that go :P

Can't we build a fence or something around these states?
"hate-mongering or pandering to wingnuts"
"Or"? Why can't it be "and"?

It takes a special type of stupidity to find entertainment from watching billboards go around a track at 180mph.
I thought that the righteous ones (at least in their own minds) would be behind these laws, not protesting them.
