Do you think that any of them are thinking, "maybe if I am so far to the right that NASCAR is to liberal for me I am extreme?".

I hope so.

No decency.

No decency.

I feel like these could be good lyrics to the tune of "Under the Sea" to mock (i.e, accurately describe) the MAGA and FarQ position. I'm not talented to write the rest of the revamped song though so I'll settle with tweaking the chorus line instead.

I guess we can add NASCAR to the list of things too woke for MAGAts to enjoy.

NASCAR had already gone Woke, they stopped allowing the Confederate flag to be displayed at races.

Just a few years ago they found a noose hanging in a Black NASCAR driver's garage, so this is somewhat of an improvement

The investigation found that was already there before that driver was ever assigned to that pit area and it was there to provide a handle on the rope to raise and lower a door. The driver accepted that it was all a mistake.

I’m all for MAGAts denying themselves anything they used to enjoy in order to “own the libs.”

Now that Bud Light and NASCAR are off the table, is there any way we can make cousin fucking seem “woke?”

Well, the corporate blowback is appropriate, but we can't take it too seriously. This is about branding. They're giving money to the trump and decan'tis campaigns, and probably some seriously gross right-wing pacs behind the scenes. But they still want to sell shit to Black people and Progressives so we're seeing their public face. But if it gives in-bred pudding face Gragson some uncomfortable moments, I'm here for it.

Corporations are amoral, soulless shitstains which don't know or care what the right thing *is*, let alone be influenced by it. This is known.

But we should celebrate this decision, because corporations are *weathercocks*. They point which way the wind is blowing. And NASCAR, one of the most iconic redneck brands that exist, just sanctioned a driver who publicly mocked the murder of a black man by a white police officer. Imagine the NASCAR of the 1950s doing that.

What's changed? Public opinion. The majority is no longer ok with overt racism and mocking the victims of lynching. Make no mistake, if NASCAR thought it would make more money by giving public tributes to Derek Chauvin before each race, they'd do exactly that. Instead, they recognise that there aren't enough rabid racists anymore to make that profitable. So they go where the money is.

CORPORATIONS GO WHERE THE MONEY IS, and they virtually all recognise there's a lot more money in "wokeness" than bigotry. Of course it's not sincere, but it shows we're winning. There are missteps - Bud Light and Target provided a masterclass in how NOT to do it. Their attempt to sit on the fence only pissed off decent people, without appeasing the bigots. Other corporations watched and learnt. NASCAR probably has a pre-planned bigot backlash response ready to go.

The Invisible Hand of the Free Market writes, and having writ, moves on. Corporations aren't our friends, but they want Woke money and so (for now, at least) they're the enemy of our enemy.

Hate is bad for business. Glory be.

Yeah, looking for social justice heroes in the corporate world is a fool's errand - they do what they do because they think it helps the brand. But, really, looking for heroes anywhere usually does not turn out well - they almost all end up exposing feet of clay.

What does matter about this kind of thing, is the reminder that if we didn't have power, they wouldn't bother. So let us not be shy about using that power, in whatever way we are able to. Voting with your wallet, and your feet, is a kind of voting.

Hah. Woke works. That's why the goober racists hate it. No major corporation wants their valuable trademark on TV racing around the oval in a car driven by an obvious racist tool. Chevrolet was in damage control. No bueno to put your sponsors that position.
